According to VNA correspondents in the Americas, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), prestigious international news sites in Latin America such as Ámbito Internacional and ABC Mundial published long articles titled "Vietnam - Heroic history and journey to the future," praising the historic victory of the Vietnamese people and impressive achievements after half a century of national reconstruction.

The article emphasized: “The victory on April 30, 1975 when the liberation army tanks entered the Independence Palace not only ended the long war but also became an immortal symbol of the will for independence and freedom.”

This victory is not only the pride of Vietnam but also a strong source of inspiration for national liberation movements around the world , especially in Latin America - where the desire for freedom and justice always burns.

Ámbito Internacional and ABC Mundial devoted many pages to analyzing the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, the leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, and the spirit of "rather sacrifice everything than lose the country, never become slaves" of the people of the two regions.

In particular, the touching article mentioned the great sacrifices of more than 1.1 million fallen martyrs, heroes such as Vo Thi Sau, Nguyen Van Troi, 10 female youth volunteers at Dong Loc T-junction and millions of wounded soldiers and their families. “The blood and bones of Vietnamese children have written the epic of the century,” the news sites commented.

The newspaper stressed that Vietnam's victory became the driving force for national liberation movements in Latin America, Africa and Asia.

Quoting Cuban leader Fidel Castro's statement: "For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to sacrifice its own blood," the article affirmed the special solidarity between Vietnam and its friendly countries.

Ámbito Internacional affirmed that the April 30 victory was not only the achievement of the Vietnamese people but also thanks to the support of international friends.

Socialist countries such as the Soviet Union, China, and Cuba provided valuable military and economic aid. The anti-war movement in the US and Asia also contributed to pressure on Washington to end the war.

This news site devotes most of its content to analyzing Vietnam's impressive socio-economic development achievements. With the Doi Moi policy since 1986, Vietnam has achieved an impressive economic growth rate of 6.5-7%/year, with an estimated GDP of 470 billion USD in 2024.

Free trade agreements such as CPTPP and EVFTA have helped Vietnam become an attractive destination for multinational corporations. In the social field, the poverty rate has decreased from 70% (in the 1970s) to below 4% (in 2024).

Education and health have made great strides with a literacy rate of 98% and an average life expectancy of 76 years. Vietnam is an active member of ASEAN, APEC, and a member of the UN Human Rights Council for the 2023-2025 term.

Meanwhile, ABC Mundial highly appreciated the policy of free tuition from 2025 and the roadmap towards free healthcare, considering this a "rare humane step forward."

The Spanish news site quoted General Secretary To Lam as saying: "Vietnam is strongly restructuring the state apparatus, attracting a record number of investors and international leaders" and commented that with the goal of becoming a high-income developed country by 2045, Vietnam is on the path to sustainable growth, especially in the fields of high technology and tourism.

Latin American media asserted that the April 30 Victory left a valuable lesson about the strength of national unity and the spirit of self-reliance. For Latin America, where countries often face outside intervention, this lesson is even more practical.

“50 years after reunification, Vietnam has risen from a country devastated by war to become a model of national revival and a source of inspiration for the world in its aspirations for peace, independence and self-reliance.”./.
