Journey to light up students' dreams
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Dang Xuan Phong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Ninh Binh Province; Deputy Chief of Office of the Ministry of Education and Training Nguyen Van Cu; Vice Chairman of Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee Mai Thanh Long; Director of Ninh Binh Department of Education and Training Nguyen Tien Dung and leaders of some departments/sectors under the province; representatives of teachers and students of all generations of the school.
In his opening speech, teacher Le Thanh Giang - Principal of the school said that it was established in August 1965 with the original name of Giao Thuy High School in the context of fierce war, teachers and students had to study in extremely deprived conditions. The classrooms were located deep underground, between houses, always facing bombs and storms, but the spirit of "Teaching well - Learning well" was still maintained and promoted.
Since 1986, the rate of students passing the university and college entrance exams has increased sharply, the excellent student team has won many awards at the provincial and national levels. Notably, in the 1996-1997 school year, 1 student won the second prize in the national History subject, in the 1997-1998 school year, 1 student won the second prize and 1 student won the third prize in the national Geography subject, bringing the reputation of the school to a new level.
In 2003, the school was honored to be the first school in Nam Dinh province (old) to be recognized as a national standard high school for the period 2001-2010. Since then, the graduation rate has continuously reached 100%; the rate of students passing the entrance exams to colleges and universities has always maintained a high position nationwide, especially in the 2009-2010 school year, it ranked 49th out of a total of about 2,800 high schools.
From 2015 to now, Giao Thuy High School has faced many opportunities and challenges in the context of the entire education sector undergoing fundamental and comprehensive innovation. This is a journey that clearly demonstrates the school's strong efforts to improve in all aspects. The school has constantly innovated teaching methods and promoted creative emulation movements in teaching.
In 2020, the school was recognized for achieving level 3 educational quality accreditation, achieving level 2 national standards and achieving the title of "Green - Clean - Beautiful - Safe", providing a positive and inspiring learning space for students and teachers. Recognizing the school's great achievements and contributions over the years are many great rewards for the collective and individuals.
"Giao Thuy High School is not only a place to nurture the dreams of many generations of students, but also a symbol of the spirit of studiousness, the tradition of good teaching and good learning in Ninh Binh. From this school, tens of thousands of students have grown up, many have become bachelors, masters, doctors, scientists, many hold important positions in agencies and businesses," said Mr. Le Thanh Giang.
Continue to cultivate future knowledge
Recognizing and appreciating the achievements of Giao Thuy High School over the past 60 years, Ninh Binh Provincial Party Secretary Dang Xuan Phong affirmed that the images, stories, and familiar faces have vividly depicted the journey of a resilient school rising from hardship, persistently cultivating knowledge and character for many generations of students.
60 years is not only measured by the length of time, but also engraved by lasting values: the faith and intelligence, the love for the profession and the dedication of generations of teachers; the will to rise and the aspiration to contribute of generations of Giao Thuy students. Achievements in teaching, emulation movements, technology application and digital transformation are proof of the spirit of solidarity, dedication and responsibility of the teaching staff and the efforts of the students.
To continue sustainable development, meeting the educational goals of the new era, Ninh Binh Provincial Party Secretary Dang Xuan Phong requested Giao Thuy High School to focus on implementing well the following key contents:
Firstly, promote solidarity, mobilize collective intelligence, effectively implement the new general education program; promote the emulation movement "Good environment - Good management - Good teaching - Good learning"; build a real "Happy school", where teachers are happy because of their dedication, students are happy because of their respect and comprehensive development.
Second, pay attention to building a team of teachers and managers who are both "red and professional"; focus on training young successor teachers who are capable, passionate and have the ability to inspire learning; each teacher continues to maintain the flame of love for the profession, fulfilling the noble mission of educating people.
Third, promote digital transformation in teaching, learning and management; enhance teaching and learning of foreign languages, especially English, so that English truly becomes the second tool in schools and life; apply technology to personalize learning, develop digital skills and digital thinking for students.
Fourth, continue to discover and nurture talented students while doing a good job of career guidance, streaming, linking learning with labor practices, social needs and the province's job market; focus on soft skills, digital citizenship skills, and creative entrepreneurship. Dear students, you are the young generation of the digital age - please cherish tradition, study hard, nurture your aspirations to reach far, so that each of you can become the pride of your family, school and hometown.
Fifth, strengthen the socialization of education, mobilize the cooperation of organizations, businesses, alumni and parents; gradually improve facilities and teaching equipment in a modern, green, and smart direction, meeting the requirements of innovation.
