On the morning of November 16, in the joyful atmosphere of the month of gratitude to teachers, Nguyen Du High School ( Ha Tinh ) solemnly held the 60th anniversary celebration (1965 - 2025).
Attending the ceremony were Colonel Nguyen Xuan Thang, Commander of the Provincial Military Command; Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Nguyet; leaders of departments, branches, Tien Dien commune and generations of teachers and students of the school.

This is not only a great reunion for those who have been attached to the school by the gentle Lam River, but also a milestone to show gratitude and look back on the six decades of hardship but also brilliant achievements of a school named after the great poet Nguyen Du.
From "trench classroom" to Nghi Xuan's educational symbol
Born during the difficult years of the resistance war against America, Nghi Xuan High School (the predecessor of Nguyen Du High School) was officially established in 1965 in Xuan My commune. At that time, the school had only 3 classes, 157 students and 7 teachers with Mr. Nguyen Huy Ky as Principal.

The facilities were so poor that classrooms were built in bomb-proof trenches, with patchwork desks and chairs, and blackboards made of charcoal-stained wood. But even in these harsh conditions, teachers and students steadfastly "kept their word", as former teachers recounted: "You can stop the school bell, but you can't stop the sound of studying."
During the period 1968-1972, the war escalated fiercely, many classes took place amidst the sound of airplanes and artillery. However, the flame of knowledge never went out. In the 1971-1972 school year, the school was recognized as an “Advanced School against the US”, becoming a bright spot in the spirit of studiousness in the Northern Ha Tinh region.

Many students went straight from the lecture hall to the battlefield, many never returned, leaving their names on the list of martyrs of their homeland such as Phan Dinh Linh (Xuan Yen), Dinh Xuan Hoe (Xuan Hai)...
After the Paris Agreement, the school moved to Tien Dien commune, the hometown of the great poet Nguyen Du, and was officially named after him from then on. That name is both a source of pride and a reminder to any generation of students who have grown up under this school: study to become a good person, study to serve the country.
60 years of persistent cultivation and bright sweet fruit
Over the past six decades, Nguyen Du High School has trained more than 25,000 students, over 10,000 of whom have passed university entrance exams, nearly 100 professors, associate professors, doctors, and 8 former students holding the rank of general. Hundreds of other students are holding important positions in Party and State agencies, the armed forces, businesses and universities across the country.

The school staff is always a source of pride: 100% of teachers meet or exceed standards; many teachers are excellent teachers of the province, emulation fighters, core in innovating teaching methods. The emulation movement of good teaching - good learning has become a sustainable cultural feature.
Every year, the school has 40-50 students winning provincial-level excellent student awards, many of whom win national awards in English Olympic competitions, Reading Culture Ambassadors, Interdisciplinary Knowledge Application, National Defense Education Sports Festival, etc.
The high school graduation rate is always above 98%, reaching an absolute 100% in some years. Outstanding faces such as Le Thi Thuy (Xuan Giang, 2022) and Nguyen Thi Thuy (Xuan My, 2024) achieved 29.25 points in block C00, becoming the pride of the school and the locality.

The work of the Youth Union and the youth movement is also a bright spot. The school's Union has received the Emulation Flag from the Central Youth Union for many years in a row; the number of excellent union members admitted to the Party is always among the top in the high schools in the province. The school's Union has continuously maintained the title of strong and excellent.
In her speech at the ceremony, Teacher Tran Le Thuy, Principal of the school, shared: “60 years - a proud journey marking the dedication of many generations of teachers and students. The school is striving to innovate, build a happy educational environment, and strive to become a high-quality school in Ha Tinh province, meeting the accreditation standards of the Ministry of Education and Training ”.

Named after the great poet Nguyen Du - a world cultural celebrity, each generation of teachers and students here is clearly aware of the responsibility to preserve personality, cultivate knowledge and nurture love for the homeland.
Moving towards a new stage, Nguyen Du High School is promoting digital transformation, modernizing facilities, and building the model of “Happy school – active students – creative teachers”. Many items have been upgraded, many classrooms are equipped with modern teaching equipment, opening up a friendly, safe and effective learning environment.
The 60th anniversary ceremony is also an opportunity for generations of students to return and reminisce about their time in white uniforms on the sunny and windy Tien Dien schoolyard; for teachers to look back at the generations of students who have grown up, to show gratitude - connect - and together nurture the next journey.

60 years – a stream of tradition passed from the first generation of teachers in the bomb-proof basement, to today's students confidently stepping into the digital age.
And that journey continues, carrying the aspirations of countless Nghi Xuan children, so that Nguyen Du school will forever be the torch of knowledge shining along the gentle Lam River - the origin of great dreams.
At the ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Nguyet acknowledged and respected generations of teachers of Nguyen Du High School who have steadfastly overcome many difficulties and challenges to build and develop, affirming its position as one of the typical units of the Education and Training sector of Ha Tinh.
