61 years of so much love - Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station

I remember once visiting Mr. Hoang Van Chuc's house in Ban Dao village, Tan Van commune, Binh Gia district. When he heard that a journalist was coming, Mr. Chuc boasted: "When I was a child, I saw the elders printing Lang Son News right here (right in the kitchen of the stilt house). Children only dared to stand far away. Seeing the letters rolling out, I did not think that this news would now be the newspaper of the Party Committee and the People of the ethnic groups in Lang Son. We are very proud because my village is where today's newspaper was born.

On May 1, 1964, Lang Son Newspaper, the newspaper of the Communist Party of Vietnam in Lang Son province, was born. Throughout the revolutionary process, under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, the Vietnamese revolutionary press in general and Lang Son Newspaper in particular have always strived to fulfill their sacred mission, being an effective force in propagating the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; propagating the protection of national interests, the Party and the regime. This spring, on the occasion of International Labor Day, Lang Son Newspaper turns 61 years old. Looking back on the past 61 years gives us more confidence and pride; more aspiration and determination to contribute to meet the increasing demands of the digital age; worthy of being the voice of the Party, government and people of Lang Son province.

Over the past 61 years, in each revolutionary stage, whether in the struggle for national independence, defending the Fatherland, or in a peaceful environment, building and developing the country and homeland; Lang Son Newspaper has always promoted the Party spirit, made efforts to propagate the gathering, enlightenment, andeducation of the People to promote patriotism, be ready to fight and sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland; and creatively work to build the homeland and country.

During the resistance war against the US to save the country, the period of fighting against the destructive war of the US imperialists, protecting the socialist North, supporting the South to unify the country, Lang Son Newspaper took President Ho Chi Minh's sacred call for national salvation as the ideological theme of propaganda, contributing to raising the determination to defeat the US invaders of the cadres and people of the whole province. Focusing on propaganda, encouraging the enthusiastic emulation spirit in production and combat of the army and people in the province. The emulation movements "Thanh nien ba san te" (Youth three ready), "Phu nu ba dung dang" (Women three responsibilities) were clearly reflected; advanced models, good people, good deeds appeared regularly in the newspaper issues. Lang Son floating port was always in the newspaper, some issues were in the backpacks of soldiers of Bac Son Battalion 1, Bac Son Battalion 2 Lang Son going to the South to fight the US.

The newspaper promptly reported on the military and civilian achievements in the province and the North, reflecting the heroic fighting spirit and glorious victories of the Southern military and civilian, moving towards liberating the South and unifying the country. Reporting during wartime, in difficult conditions and lacking in all aspects, the staff and reporters of Lang Son Newspaper still worked enthusiastically to bring readers necessary and timely information in the province as well as the whole country.

Peace was restored, closely following the Party's core task of building and firmly defending the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam, the newspaper focused on propaganda to successfully implement the Party and State's guidelines, policies and lines in all fields, focusing on socio-economic, security and defense goals. The newspaper effectively served the cause of reform and building socialism, fighting against reactionaries. During the war to protect the border, the newspaper received support from the whole country with many outstanding writers in the Vietnamese press such as; Ho Quang Loi, Dang Vuong Hung, Hoang Tung, Pham Toan...

In the process of innovation, closely following the leadership of the Central Committee and the Provincial Party Committee through the congresses, Lang Son Newspaper focuses on propagating and affirming the achievements of the Party Committee and the People in the province in all areas of social life; fighting against the plots of "Peaceful evolution", violent overthrow of hostile forces, dividing the great national unity bloc; fighting against negative manifestations and corruption; reflecting the thoughts and aspirations of the People, strengthening the People's trust in the leadership of the Party, affirming the determination to follow the path chosen by the Party and Uncle Ho.

News and articles focus on propaganda against bad thoughts, habits, vices, and social evils that affect and erode good customs, healthy cultural lifestyles, and the nation's moral traditions, guiding all members of society to live better and more ethically.

With the nature of a revolutionary newspaper, right from the first issue 61 years ago, Lang Son Newspaper clearly demonstrated the spirit of its writers. Today, Lang Son Newspaper always plays a pioneering role, proactively propagating, raising awareness and revolutionary vigilance for cadres, party members and people, effectively refuting and fighting against wrong views and distorted arguments of hostile forces. Along with that, the newspaper also strongly and frankly fights against manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation".

In the face of major events and sensitive issues, Lang Son Newspaper has promoted the highest sense of responsibility, qualifications, and professional qualities of its staff, reporters, and editors to propagate promptly and in the right direction, creating positive public opinion and social consensus. The newspaper has had many special pages and articles promoting impressive and effective implementation of resolutions and directives of the Central and the province in conjunction with promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style, and resolutions of the Central on Party building and rectification... In particular, the newspaper has strongly promoted the Party congresses at all levels on printed newspapers, electronic newspapers, and social networking platforms with diverse, rich, and profound forms and contents, creating a far-reaching effect, elevating the newspaper to a new position.

The Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee presented decisions and flowers to congratulate the comrades appointed to the positions of Editor-in-Chief and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station.

The growth and maturity of Lang Son Newspaper over 61 years is demonstrated in terms of editorial scale, circulation, staff, propaganda content, presentation format and especially the companionship of readers. When it was first established, the newspaper published 1 issue/week, up to now the newspaper has published 5 issues/week; since 2008, the newspaper has had an electronic information page, the predecessor of today's electronic newspaper.

More honored and proud to implement the policy of streamlining and reorganizing the apparatus, on April 1, 2025, the Provincial Party Committee announced Decision No. 2193 dated March 27, 2025 on merging Lang Son Radio and Television Station into Lang Son Newspaper to form Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station. From this merger, Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station have all 4 types of press, becoming a stronger unit, with more tasks, and greater responsibilities. In the immediate future, Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station are focusing on propagating resolutions of party congresses at all levels; mastering the resolutions, directives, and regulations of the Party and State on press-publishing work and orientations on press-communication activities in the new situation; Perform well the advisory and proposal functions in propaganda work, affirm the position of local Party newspapers, contribute to the role of orienting public opinion, creating consensus among the people.

To continue promoting the pioneering role of revolutionary journalism, the tasks set for Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television in the coming time are very heavy, requiring tireless efforts, high determination, and great aspirations to be worthy of the sacred function and mission that President Ho Chi Minh once pointed out: "For us journalists, the pen is a sharp weapon, the article is a revolutionary proclamation to mobilize the masses"; the press must contribute to creating a high unity of thought and consensus in society. Today, with the position of an agency with all four types of journalism, Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television will continue to bring printed words, spoken words through radio, images and sounds through television and multimedia through electronic newspapers to the people. Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television continue to affirm themselves as information channels bringing the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws to the people.

With the determination: “Infinite loyalty, honesty and objectivity, overcoming all hardships, serving the people”, Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station have been fulfilling their duties well on the path of innovation. Over the past 61 years, Lang Son Newspaper has traveled, and today, Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station will continue on the broad path of Vietnam’s revolutionary journalism.
