The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has just issued a dispatch requesting relevant agencies and units to organize 24/7 duty and strictly implement procedures for responding to storms and tropical depressions in civil aviation activities.
Accordingly, the airports forecast to be in the area directly affected by storm No. 13 include Da Nang , Phu Bai, Lien Khuong, Chu Lai, Phu Cat, Tuy Hoa, Pleiku, Buon Ma Thuot. In addition, Cam Ranh International Airport and Dong Hoi Airport are proactively updating information to be on guard when the storm has unusual developments.
Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) is required to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to inspect the airport infrastructure system, communication system, etc., promptly detect and handle damages (if any) to ensure the safety of works, stations, and ensure the safety of operations at airports. At the same time, deploy plans to prevent rain and storms, measures to prevent flooding, clear the flow in airports, protect works, vehicles, and equipment at airports, minimize damage caused by rain and storms, and quickly stabilize all aviation activities to serve the needs of passengers.

For airports currently under construction (Chu Lai, Phu Cat), the Civil Aviation Authority requires investors to work with contractors to immediately implement storm response measures; identify technical stopping points to stop construction according to the storm's developments; prepare conditions to promptly fix construction incidents, ensure safety, and limit damage caused by storms. In addition, it is necessary to arrange 24/24 hours on duty, proactively update meteorological information to promptly propose appropriate and safe exploitation plans. The Authority also notes that after the storm weakens and makes landfall, there is a risk of heavy rain and flooding after the storm.
Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) is assigned to direct aviation meteorological service providers to strengthen the work of ensuring the quality of meteorological information; continuously monitor weather conditions in the area of responsibility, update forecasts and warnings; and provide timely and complete monitoring, forecasting and warning information to users.
Airlines and flight safety service providers are required to strengthen coordination; closely monitor the developments of storm No. 13 to have plans to adjust flight plans or change flight schedules accordingly and ensure flight safety.
Also on November 6, Vietnam Airlines announced plans to postpone and cancel many flights for the next two days. Specifically, Vietnam Airlines canceled flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Quy Nhon (Phu Cat airport) including VN1390, VN1391, VN1394, VN1395 on November 6 and VN1392, VN1393 on November 7. Flights VN1622, VN1623 between Hanoi and Quy Nhon on November 6 will depart before 12:00.
On the Ho Chi Minh City - Chu Lai route, flights VN1464, VN1465, VN1468, VN1469 on November 6 will be adjusted to depart 12 hours earlier, while flights VN1640, VN1641 on November 7 between Hanoi - Chu Lai will be delayed after 10 hours.
The airline will not operate flights VN1650 and VN1651 between Hanoi and Tuy Hoa on November 6. On November 7, flights VN1650, VN1651, VN1660 and VN1661 on the Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City - Tuy Hoa routes will operate after 12 hours...
Due to the adjustment of the flight schedule, more than 50 other flights of Vietnam Airlines Group (including Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines and Vasco) on November 6 and 7 were also affected. Flights to and from airports in the Central region on November 7 will be monitored and flexibly adjusted according to the actual weather situation, ensuring absolute safety.
Vietnam Airlines Group recommends that passengers always fasten their seat belts during the flight, even when the seat belt indicator is off, to reduce the risk of turbulence. Passengers flying on November 6 and 7 should actively monitor weather information, traffic conditions to the airport and be present for check-in on time.
