This year's tournament brings together 98 jockeys from the districts of Bac Ha, Bat Xat, and Si Ma Cai in Lao Cai province and the provinces of Tuyen Quang and Son La.
In the qualifying round, the jockeys were divided into 20 races. In each race, the jockeys demonstrated their endurance, skillful horse control skills and competitive spirit to win.
Mr. Chu Van An, a jockey from Son La province, said: At the traditional horse race of Bac Ha district this year, Son La delegation has 8 jockeys participating. To best prepare for the tournament, the jockeys arrived in Bac Ha more than a week ago to let the horses get used to the weather and the field. We are very happy that after the qualifying round, Son La delegation has 6 jockeys selected for the final round.
Although it was only a qualifying round, the atmosphere at Bac Ha Stadium was still very exciting with the cheers of thousands of spectators. The speedy breakthroughs, the dramatic overtaking moves and the moments of stumbling and then getting up with resilience created emotional rounds.
Ms. Nguyen Thu Hien, a tourist from Hanoi , shared: I am very impressed with the competitive spirit of the jockeys, each race has its own appeal. I will definitely go to Bac Ha to watch the final round held next June.
At the end of the qualifying round, the 32 jockeys with the best results were selected by the Organizing Committee to enter the final round.
The final round of the traditional horse racing tournament of Bac Ha district in 2025 is expected to take place on June 7, 2025, promising to bring people and tourists unforgettable experiences on the white plateau.
