On June 20, the People's Court of Binh Phuoc Province announced the first instance verdict, sentencing Le Van Ga (45 years old, from Giong Trom District, Ben Tre Province) to death for murder. This is the second time Ga has killed someone, the victim was also Ga's lover.
According to the indictment, around November 2022, Le Van Ga and Ms. NTL (40 years old) had a relationship and lived together as husband and wife at Ms. L's house (Tan Quan commune, Hon Quan district).
The representative of the People's Procuracy read the indictment against Le Van Ga.
During their time together, Ga often drank alcohol and beat Ms. L. due to emotional conflicts. On February 16, Ms. L. kicked Ga out of the house because she did not want to live together, so Ga had the idea of killing her lover and then committing suicide.
At around 4am on February 17, Ga rode his motorbike, carrying two knives and a bottle of weed killer to his girlfriend's house. When he arrived, he saw the bathroom light on and discovered Ms. L. brushing her teeth inside.
Ga went in to talk and hug L. but was pushed away. Then, Ga took a knife and stabbed her lover many times in the face, neck, chest, arms and back of the neck. When L. screamed, Ga threw the knife down, took a bottle of weed killer and drank it, then went into the bathroom and locked the door.
Hearing Ms. L.'s screams, relatives next door ran over and broke the door, but Ga ran out. Ms. L. was taken to the emergency room by her family but died.

On the same day, Ga was arrested by the police. During the police investigation, Ga confessed to killing his lover.
Previously, on July 19, 2005, Le Van Ga was sentenced to 11 years in prison for murder by the Supreme People's Court of Appeal in Ho Chi Minh City and had completed his sentence. The victim was also Ga's lover and lived with him as husband and wife.
The jury sentenced Ga to death for murder.
