On the morning of November 1, the final round of the group stage of the 2025 Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament took place. In group A, the two teams that won tickets to the next round, Ho Chi Minh City Union 2 and Dong Nai Union 1, competed for the top spot in the group.
Since the quarter-finals were still in the afternoon, both teams kept many key players on the sidelines. This was an opportunity for the two brothers Phan Ly Tinh and Phan Ly Nghia to stand shoulder to shoulder together in the HCM City 2 Trade Union shirt.
These are two familiar names in the Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament. In all three seasons, they have participated fully and won tickets to the final round.
In the previous two seasons (2023 and 2024), Tinh and Nghia played for teams in the Binh Duong region. This year, after the merger, they will play together in the HCM City 2 Trade Union shirt.
"The Brothers of Love and Righteousness" became a familiar image with Tuoi Tre newspaper as well as with the 2025 Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament. But it was not until the final round of the group stage on the morning of November 1 that they had the opportunity to play together.
And it was even more special when the "Tinh Nghia brothers" shone together and scored together. It was even Phan Ly Nghia who created the pass for Phan Ly Tinh in the 1-1 equalizer.
Unfortunately, the two brothers were not strong enough to "carry" their team, as the HCM City Union 2 lost 2-6. However, this result only put them in second place in the table, and did not affect their chances of advancing too much.
"Today is really special because the two brothers have the opportunity to reunite and compete together in the Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament. In the first year, we both wore the Binh Duong Trade Union shirt. In the second year, Nghia changed jobs and played for Sacombank . It was not until this year that the two brothers wore the same shirt again.
"Today's two goals were shared equally between the two brothers, it was truly an indescribable feeling. We dedicate this goal to our father, Mr. Phan Minh Kiet, who every year travels a long distance to watch the two brothers compete in the final round," Phan Ly Tinh shared.
With the second place in group A, "Tinh Nghia brothers" and the HCM City Trade Union 2 team will meet Gia Lai Trade Union in the quarter-finals on the same afternoon.
The 2025 Vietnam Workers' and Civil Servants' Football Tournament is jointly organized by Tuoi Tre Newspaper, Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and Vietnam Football Federation for the third consecutive year.
Entering the 2025 season, the tournament has affirmed its position as an annual, prestigious playground for workers, civil servants, and laborers across the country; contributing to promoting the movement of physical exercise and sports, improving the cultural and spiritual life of workers, civil servants, and laborers in particular and the whole society in general.
This year's tournament is honored to receive the support of Truong Hai Group Joint Stock Company (THACO), Dong Luc Sports Group, HTP Pharmaceutical Investment Joint Stock Company, Hoa Sen Group Joint Stock Company, Sunshine Group, Saigon Water Corporation (SAWACO), Fashion Connection Joint Stock Company (Faslink), 108 Central Military Hospital, 175 Military Hospital and a number of enterprises.
The final round of the Vietnam Workers' and Civil Servants' Football Tournament 2025 took place from October 31 to November 2 in Ho Chi Minh City, with the participation of 16 teams that had successfully passed the qualifying round.
