Half a century has passed since the historic April 30th of the country, but the memories of the days of taking to the streets, raising the national flag, and shouting the slogans "Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh " are still intact in the hearts of those living far away from home.

Holding the special supplement celebrating the great occasion, many elderly overseas Vietnamese could not hide their emotions when recalling the enthusiastic activities of the patriotic movement in France in the past: taking to the streets to protest, spread propaganda, organize rallies against the war and call for support from French friends for peace in Vietnam.

Sharing with Nhan Dan Newspaper reporter stationed in France, Mrs. Thérèse Nguyen Van Ky (in purple jacket) said: The news of the great victory on April 30, 1975 brought many emotions that cannot be expressed in words, such as the joy of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. The next day, I still had to go to the clinic to work as usual. French patients who love Vietnam expressed their joy and sent their congratulations to the Vietnamese people as soon as the news of the victory spread to France.

Mr. Can Van Kiet (red scarf), a former core member of the Overseas Vietnamese Union in France (the predecessor of the Vietnamese Association in France), emotionally shared: On April 30, 1975, overseas Vietnamese were overwhelmed after the news of victory spread to France.

Many members of the Overseas Vietnamese Union who actively oriented towards their homeland in those days are now old and weak, but their memories of a time when they were young and devoted themselves to their country are still intact.

Elderly overseas Vietnamese recalled: Each assigned task was completed quickly, from printing documents at night to traveling dozens of kilometers to gain international support in anti-war movements for Vietnam.

Many young generations born after the country's reunification also carry that pride. Mr. Tran Duc Tuan, a member of the community choir group Choir Que Huong, shared: For children born in peacetime, the image of airplanes is sometimes a small joy when looking up to the sky. But for the generation of fathers and brothers, it is the shedding of blood and sacrifice for the independence and reunification of the country. On this occasion, members of the Choir Que Huong sent their gratitude to the generations who sacrificed so that today's young people can stand up and stand shoulder to shoulder with international friends.

Ms. Mai Linh (26 years old), who is studying for a master's degree in Paris, said: I am extremely moved and proud to join in the joy of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day. It is known that the special supplement of Nhan Dan Newspaper is being widely favored by the domestic public, especially young people. It is a joy to hold in my hands the supplement celebrating the great occasion of the country right in France.

Working in the field of information technology in France, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao (27 years old) said: The application of advanced technology in the special supplement on the occasion of the great anniversary of the nation is even more meaningful when it attracts the attention of many young people. For her part, Ms. Vu Dan Thanh (25 years old) expressed regret that she could not be present in Vietnam to join in the joy and enjoy the heroic atmosphere of the country on the occasion of April 30. “This supplement is like a spiritual gift for students studying abroad like me, connecting us with the history of the nation. Augmented reality (AR) technology integrated into the newspaper page makes young people more eager to learn about historical traditions. I will definitely introduce this special publication to my French friends,” Dan Thanh happily said.

Mr. Tran Tu Nghia and Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Tho, both over 80 years old, are overseas Vietnamese who have been involved in the patriotic movement for a long time. They have just returned to France after a nearly one-month trip to Vietnam. Not only are they happy with the country's "transformation", they are also proud that the young generation of Vietnam, despite living in the digital age, still loves their homeland and country with a sense of preserving precious historical values. Ms. Tho shared: "Many young people from all over the country have flocked to Ho Chi Minh City, staying up all night to wait for the parade to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country."

Ms. Pham Thi Luan has been living and working in France for 36 years. Holding the special supplement of Nhan Dan Newspaper, she could not help but be moved: “People can leave their homeland, but their homeland can never be separated from them. That is also the reason why for the past two weeks, I have been following the news about the exciting activities celebrating the April 30 Victory in the country. The community in France is very excited to hold this special publication in their hands, with their hearts always turned towards the Fatherland.”

Ms. Phan Tuong Vi, a teacher of Traditional Dance at the Ve Nguon School, said: When participating in the school's classes, children of overseas Vietnamese families in France can study and learn about the history, culture, language and origins of the Vietnamese people. Access to multimedia-based learning materials for third and fourth generation children is very modern compared to simple books and newspapers in the past. The victory in 1975 was the crystallization of the will of the entire nation, including significant contributions from the overseas Vietnamese community. To this day, those values ​​continue to be the foundation for overseas Vietnamese in France to continue to rise up, deeply integrate into the host country, and actively contribute to the country's increasingly prosperous development.
