Hanoi Radio and Television Station launched the Television Stage, premiering the play "Me and Us"

NDO - Following the direction of the Hanoi Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, Hanoi Radio and Television launched the Television Stage program with the opening play "Me and Us" by playwright Luu Quang Vu, staged by Hanoi Drama Theater.

At present, in response to the demands of the times, our entire Party and people are continuing to enter a new revolution, stronger in thinking, awareness and new ways of doing things to move towards the great goal: Building a prosperous country in the era of national growth.

In that context, journalism, literature and art, including theater, play an important role in shaping thinking and social awareness, encouraging and promoting the process of innovation. There are many theatrical works such as drama, cheo, cai luong... that live forever with time, undergoing many changes, but still retain the contemporary breath when placed in the context of a moving country, ready to think and prepare for new development opportunities.

With that meaning, implementing the direction and orientation of the Hanoi Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, Hanoi Radio and Television Station coordinated with Central and City art units to deploy the Television Stage program, which will recreate and introduce to the television audience classic and famous works of Vietnamese theater in the following genres: drama, cheo, tuong, and cai luong.

The plays will be broadcast monthly on the station's channels and platforms, helping audiences and theater lovers enjoy plays that clearly reflect the times and lasting humanistic values.

In the vibrant flow of a Vietnam that is transforming strongly in all aspects of economy , society, culture and management thinking, the classic stage work "Me and Us" by famous playwright Luu Quang Vu was chosen to open the Television Stage program of Hanoi Radio and Television in 2025.

Born in 1984, in the context of the country beginning to foster the spirit of innovation, the play “Me and Us” is a pioneering voice full of courage with the spirit of criticism and struggle against the conservatism and stagnation left by the subsidized bureaucratic mechanism. That is the obstacle that restrains creativity, prevents the flow of innovative thinking, the desire for innovation and dedication in each person. The play raises the question of the initiative of each individual in a collective system, putting on the scale the choice between “Safety-Compliance” or “Commitment-Change”.

More than 40 years later, that question is still relevant as the country enters a new era, where innovation, transparent governance and the role of proactive citizens become pillars for the country’s sustainable development. The play “Me and Us” is the awakening voice, the hyphen between yesterday’s desire for innovation and today’s construction.

The new version of the play "Me and Us" in 2025, staged by Hanoi Drama Theater, not only faithfully recreates the brave and dedicated spirit of author Luu Quang Vu at that time, but also brings a new perspective, imbued with the 4.0 era.

With innovative stage language, modern lighting and sound, and fast-paced rhythm, the play seems to have been "transformed" to reflect the reality of today's society: Where each person must constantly overcome prejudices, old habits, overcome the barriers of cumbersome mechanisms, contribute to change, create flexible and effective operations of the country's organizations and apparatus.

“I and We” is not only a collision between each person and a stagnant and conservative system, but also an internal dialogue between the individual “I” and responsibility to the community. How can we not lose our personal identity while still contributing to the common strength? That is also the story of every Vietnamese person today when each industry and each field is gradually removing old barriers, finding new ways to rise up, integrate, but not dissolve.

The play carries a message when the stage becomes a mirror reflecting ourselves, in the journey to create a civilized, democratic and progressive future.

The play “Me and Us” is directed by People’s Artist Trung Hieu, with the participation of Meritorious Artists: Duc Quang, Thien Tung, Ngoc Quynh and artists: Tien Loc, Thanh Huong, Diem Quynh… along with the collective of actors and musicians of Hanoi Drama Theater. The play will be performed at 7:30 p.m. on June 1 at the Workers Theater, recorded and broadcast live on channel H2 and platforms of Hanoi Radio and Television.
