"Anora" wins the Palme d'Or at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival

According to a VNA correspondent in France, after 11 days of competition, the jury of the 77th Cannes Film Festival, chaired by American director, screenwriter and actress Greta Gerwig, announced the works that won this year's awards. Accordingly, the film "Anora" was unexpectedly honored. During the premiere in Cannes, director Baker's film received a 10-minute standing ovation from the audience.

Meanwhile, the Grand Prix was awarded to the film "All We Imagine as Light" by Indian director Payal Kapadia. Another surprise at this year's Cannes Film Festival was that the film "Emilia Perez" by French director Jacques Audiard was awarded the Prix du Jury, while the Best Actress award was given to the entire female cast of the film including Karla Sofía Gascón, Selena Gomez, Karla Sofia Gascón, Zoe Saldaña and Adriana Paz.

The Best Actor award went to actor Jesse Plemons for his role in "Kinds of Kindness" directed by Yórgos Lánthimos.

The Best Director award went to Miguel Gomes for his film "Grand Tour". The Portuguese director tells the story of a British civil servant's tour of Southeast Asia in 1917 through black and white scenes, representing the 1910s, interspersed with color scenes, taking place in 2020, creating a unique appeal that captivates viewers from beginning to end.
The Best Screenplay award went to Coralie Fargeat's "The Substance."

The Camera d'Or went to Norwegian director Halfdan Ullmann Tondel for his debut feature "Armand". In addition, the Short Film Award went to Croatian director Nebojša Slijpeceviec's "The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent" and the Un Certain Regard award went to Guan Hu's "Black Dog".

Cannes is one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world , first held in 1946. Since then, the event has been held every May in the beautiful city located in the Southeast of France, on the Mediterranean coast. The festival often attracts the participation of many movie stars, is a favorite meeting place for film producers to introduce their latest films and sell their works to distributors from all over the world.
