Twitter has changed its name and logo from a blue bird to an X on a black background, and billionaire Elon Musk - the owner of this social network - also bought the domain name "x.com" and linked it to the platform's homepage. In the latest update on both Android and iOS operating systems, the software has used the latest changes, but still not thoroughly.
On the App Store, the Twitter name has not been changed due to Apple's policy.
With the Android platform, the application name and logo are both changed to X on the external screen interface, while the software installation in the device still keeps the Twitter name and the installation package (APK file) to be com.twitter.android as before. On iOS, the change also applies to the interface displayed on the device after installation, while the Twitter name on the app store is the same as before.
According to the expert's explanation, Apple's mandatory requirement is that the application name on the App Store must not have 1 character but must have at least 2, maximum 30 characters. This rule is not mandatory on the user's device, so even though it is Twitter on the App Store, after installation, the program is named X on Apple-made phones and tablets.
Not only having problems with Apple, recently the San Francisco city government (USA) confirmed that it is investigating the case of Twitter arbitrarily changing the logo on the roof of the building that is the company's headquarters in the locality. A city official said that any changes to the letters and logos installed on buildings must be licensed and approved by the government to ensure the historical consistency of the building.
Meanwhile, in Indonesia, the island nation's internet content filter blocked the domain name "x.com" because it mistook it for adult content.
