With the theme “High-tech innovation to respond to climate change in agriculture towards inclusive development”, this year’s funding round has a total budget of AUD 2 million, aiming at practical technological solutions that can create positive and lasting impacts for rural communities in Vietnam, which are also increasingly affected by extreme weather events due to climate change and natural resource depletion.
Through a competitive and transparent selection mechanism, each selected project will receive support from 300,000 to 700,000 AUD (about 5 to nearly 12 billion VND). This is an opportunity for research organizations, businesses and innovative startups from Vietnam and Australia to join hands to develop pioneering ideas that can be scaled up and applied in practice.
To date, the Innovation Partnership Fund has funded 15 projects, of which 12 have been completed, delivering practical results - from sustainable farming models to technological solutions that help farmers adapt to changing climate conditions.
“We believe innovation is key to Vietnam’s agricultural sector growing and being resilient to climate challenges,” said Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, Ms. Gillian Bird. “These grants from Aus4Innovation are part of Australia’s long-term commitment to sustainable, inclusive growth in Vietnam.”
On the Vietnamese side, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui The Duy said: “Aus4Innovation funding rounds have been and are providing more motivation for Vietnamese researchers and businesses to boldly pursue bold ideas, converting knowledge and technology into valuable solutions, contributing to improving the resilience of Vietnamese agriculture to climate change.”
