According to The Independent, Mrs. Melania was "unusually absent" when Mr. Trump arrived in New York City to appear in court on April 4. That same evening, Mrs. Melania did not appear when Mr. Trump spoke at the Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
Notably, Mr. Trump did not mention his absent wife Melania in his speech, instead thanking his family for their support.

Specifically, Mr. Trump boasted to attendees about his successful real estate business and said that banks "did not lose even a single dollar" in transactions with the Trump Organization, which he owns.
Next, Mr. Trump mentioned all of his children but did not mention his wife Melania.
"I've built a wonderful business with my family. I have a son here, a son there, and Tiffany, Ivanka. Barron is going to be great one day. He's big and very smart. I have a wonderful family. They've done a tremendous job. We appreciate that," Trump said.
During the April 4 hearing, Mr. Trump did not admit to the 34 charges against him before Judge Juan Merchan. Escorted by police, Mr. Trump was not handcuffed or detained but returned to Florida that same evening.
