Bac Ninh opens Film Week to celebrate the 24th Vietnam Film Festival

(PLVN) - On the evening of November 14, at the Provincial Culture - Exhibition Center, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Ninh organized the opening ceremony of the Film Week to celebrate the 24th Vietnam Film Festival. The event attracted the participation of representatives of departments, branches, armed forces, Veterans Association; a large number of war invalids, sick soldiers and people in the province.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Huu Hung emphasized: The Vietnam Film Festival is a major national cultural and artistic event, contributing to promoting humanistic cinematographic works, spreading messages of kindness and honoring Vietnamese cultural identity. Organizing the Film Week in Bac Ninh is a practical activity in response to the Festival, at the same time promoting cultural and artistic exchanges, promoting tourism and improving the spiritual life of the people.

At the program, the Organizing Committee and sponsors presented gifts to war invalids, sick soldiers, families of policy beneficiaries, and people affected by Agent Orange. This is an activity with the meaning of gratitude, demonstrating the morality of "drinking water, remembering its source" of Bac Ninh province towards those who have contributed to the revolution.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, the audience enjoyed the film “Red Rain” produced by the People’s Army Cinema, adapted from the novel by writer Chu Lai. The work recreates 81 days and nights of fierce fighting to protect Quang Tri Citadel in 1972, causing a big stir when it was released on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2. “Red Rain” currently holds the record for the highest revenue of Vietnamese cinema, bringing deep emotions to the Bac Ninh public, especially the veterans who fought in the Quang Tri battlefield and the southern region.

As planned, on November 15, the Provincial Cultural and Exhibition Center will continue to organize three free screenings of the film “Red Rain” to serve the people. From November 14 to 20, mobile film screenings will be deployed in villages, hamlets, and residential groups in the province.

The film week also introduces many outstanding works that vividly reflect the revolutionary struggle, the cause of building and defending the Fatherland such as: "Peach, Pho and Piano", "The Scent of Burning Grass", "The Returning Person", "The Legend of Quan Tien", "The 17th Parallel: Days and Nights", "Hanoi 12 Days and Nights", "I See Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass", "The Ringed Bird", "August Star", "The Prophet"...
