Bach Tuyet and Le Thuy choked up when People's Artist Diep Lang passed away.

People's Artist Diep Lang passed away at 6am on March 11 (10pm Vietnam time) in California, USA, at the age of 83. After a heart attack, the cai luong artist passed away in the arms of his loved ones.

The passing of the "big tree" of the reformed theater stage made many artists express their condolences.

People's Artist Le Thuy choked up when she heard the news of People's Artist Diep Lang's passing. On her personal page, the female artist posted old photos, along with emotional messages. She wrote: "I will always remember the memories of our brothers during the 1984 tour and the long time together on stage at the 2-84 Cai Luong Art Troupe."

For People's Artist Bach Tuyet, she was heartbroken when at the age of 79 she had to witness "the "migration" of relatives, friends and colleagues passing away one by one".

Although she had gotten used to it, when she received the sad news of People's Artist Diep Lang, she was still tormented and heartbroken. "So many stories, so many memories came back like a slow-motion movie. His luggage on this migration was very heavy, filled with the love of his family, friends, colleagues, especially the sincerity of the audience who have loved the art of reformed opera for the past decades. Each of his songs, each of his roles will live forever and go with the years. He was a legend of the Vietnamese stage. Goodbye, farewell to the talented artist who was always passionate about the art of reformed opera in Vietnam", she confided.

People's Artist Hong Van wrote: "Farewell, Uncle Diep Lang. I thank you for accompanying Phu Nhuan Drama Theater since its early days. Next, you entrusted Diep Tien, your gold nugget, to continue accompanying me. Phu Nhuan was able to create a brand thanks in part to you and Tien. I will carry this favor with me for the rest of my life, Uncle. You return to your ancestors, Uncle."

Not yet overcome with the pain of losing her close brother Vu Linh, Meritorious Artist Ngoc Huyen received more sad news. She said that a few months ago, she visited and was lovingly escorted to the door by People's Artist Diep Lang. "My beloved Uncle Diep Lang, now our group of fellow Buddhists and meditation friends will sit and recite Amitabha Buddha's name from Vietnam, sending our love and respect to America to bring you to the Buddha's land. And my family respectfully offers condolences to Ms. Phong and our entire family," Ngoc Huyen wrote.

Ngoc Huyen shared a new photo of visiting People's Artist Diep Lang a few months ago.

Sharing a commemorative photo with People's Artist Diep Lang, Meritorious Artist Vu Linh..., Phuong Thanh emotionally recounted: "Back then, Minh Thuan was very fond of Cai Luong, wherever he went, he would drag Phuong Thanh along. When participating in the Cai Luong play Kim Van Kieu by director Hoa Ha, Phuong Thanh had a chance to meet the talented artists: "Mother Bach Lan, Uncle Diep Lang, Brother Vu Linh and Tu Suong. 4 artists have passed away, only 2 remain".

Artist Huu Quoc shared: "I was speechless when I read the messages early this morning about your passing. Although I know that birth, aging, sickness and death are the natural course of life, why am I so sad and heartbroken? I am also a young artist who was lucky enough to perform with you in cai luong plays and on Hong Van's stage. You taught me many things about my career and life. I will always be grateful to you, a great artist of our country's theater, a shining example of professional practice and ethics, and modesty with colleagues and audiences. I bow my head and say goodbye to the great tree of Vietnamese theater."

Artist Minh Nhi expressed his condolences: "I once again bid farewell to my brother, People's Artist Diep Lang. A giant of the art of reformed opera, I will always miss you, my respected brother."

People's Artist Diep Lang passed away at the age of 83.

People's Artist Diep Lang's real name is Duong Cong Thuan, born in 1941, originally from Chau Thanh, Dong Thap . When mentioning Diep Lang, cai luong fans remember the roles of Hoi Dong Thang ( Doi Co Luu ), Hoi Dong Du ( Tieng Ho Song Hau ). Many plays he participated in also left an impression on fans, such as To Anh Nguyet, Lan and Diep, Half a Life of Incense, Tieng Song Rach Gam, Tam Su Ngoc Han...

In addition to his main field of reformed opera, he also participated in many other art forms such as drama, cinema, art direction, and directing. He was awarded the title of People's Artist in 2003. In his last years, he moved to the US to live with his wife and son, director Diep Tien.
