On November 29, teacher Yang Dan in Liaoning, China posted a video showing elementary school students how to avoid being bullied. The video attracted 600,000 likes on Douyin.
Ms. Duong said that a parent in her class reported to her that her son was being bullied by classmates who repeatedly stepped on him and borrowed an eraser but did not return it. The bullied student was so scared that one day he held the eraser tightly in his hand, not letting go for a second.
The teacher used a packet of noodles, an apple and a rock to teach students about how to fight against school bullying.
To resolve the situation, Ms. Duong invited a student in the class to play a game, in which she asked him to squeeze a pack of crispy instant noodles, smash an apple, and hit a rock.
Then, Ms. Duong concluded: " Don't be as fragile as a pack of instant noodles, be a rock." The teacher explained to the students that anyone who is bullied must be strong and fight back to stop the behavior instead of tolerating it.
Teacher Duong's lesson on how to combat school bullying received much praise on social networks because it was simple and easy to understand: "A responsible teacher not only imparts knowledge but also has the responsibility to nurture people. You are a great teacher", "Children are lucky to have a teacher like you".
In the lecture that day, Ms. Duong told the students that all of the students in the class are their parents' beloved children, they should not bully students with lower scores or weaker than them because that will hurt them and break their parents' hearts.
She encourages her students to stand up against school violence and she promises to help if they are treated unfairly.
Duong said she spoke privately with the bullied student and his deskmate after the lecture, and the student who bullied his friend realized his mistake.
In recent years, many schools in China have invited police to lecture on the subject amid growing anti-bullying awareness.
