Speaking to Dan Tri reporters, representatives of many large retail systems in Vietnam said that the new iPhone 16 Pro Max is the version most favored by domestic users, in complete contrast to the international market.
Ms. Van Thi Ngoc Yen, Apple Product Manager at Di Dong Viet, explained this particularity: "For many years, the Vietnamese market has always had its own characteristics, even completely different from the world. Users are willing to spend more on technology devices, especially iPhones. Users prioritize high-end experiences in terms of camera, performance, large screen and luxurious design.
These are the factors that the Pro and Pro Max lines meet better than the standard version. That is also the reason why every time the iPhone is launched in Vietnam, the Pro and Pro Max lines are always in a state of shortage.
Statistics from retail systems also reinforce the above statement. According to Minh Tuan Mobile, iPhone 16 only accounts for about 20% of sales of the iPhone 16 line.
Meanwhile, a representative of the CellphoneS system revealed that the iPhone 16 only accounts for about 6% of the total number of units sold in the entire iPhone product group and about 10% in the iPhone 16 product line. The majority of sales still belong to the Pro and Pro Max versions.
"In the first 5 months of 2025, 47% of iPhone sales belonged to iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. At the time of launch in September 2024, this number fluctuated around 50%," said Mr. Nguyen Lac Huy, media representative of CellphoneS system.

After many price adjustments, iPhone 16 is now priced at 19 million VND for the 128GB version, 4 million VND lower than the price at the time of launch.
However, the purchasing power of the iPhone 16 has not really broken through. "Compared to the same period last year, the purchasing power of the iPhone 16 is somewhat slower than that of the iPhone 15. Up to now, this model has not created a strong rebound compared to its predecessor," said a representative of the Minh Tuan Mobile system.
However, retailers still expect iPhone 16 sales growth in the coming time.
"After many adjustments, the iPhone 16 now has a relatively good price compared to the performance and experience the product brings. We expect sales of this device to grow again after a period of deep discounts," Minh Tuan Mobile representative added.
