Mr. Ngo Vu Thang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, emphasized that Ca Mau crab has long been considered the most delicious and highest quality in Vietnam, and is also the province's main seafood product with a total estimated value of over 10,000 billion VND per year. Currently, the whole province has about 365,000 hectares of crab farming in a combined farming model, intercropping in shrimp ponds, about 200 hectares of semi-intensive farming and more than 3,000 boxes of crab farming in boxes, with an annual output of 31,300 tons.
Ca Mau province aims to increase total crab output to 36,500 tons by 2030, of which the proportion of products participating in exports and consumption chains will reach 30% or more.
Mr. Thang said that Ca Mau will continue to improve policies, infrastructure and coordination mechanisms with ministries, branches, research institutes and international partners to receive professional recommendations and convert them into specific action programs to improve the quality, efficiency and added value of Ca Mau crab products.

At the workshop, experts from Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines... shared many new research results and effective farming models in developing the crustacean industry. The presentations focused on the following topics: sea crab seed production; resource and habitat conservation; mud crab farming model; traceability technology; solutions for management, monitoring and disease control.
Scientists also analyzed the current status of the crab industry in Vietnam, pointed out opportunities and challenges, and proposed long-term capacity building directions, emphasizing the importance of the agricultural innovation system.
In addition, experts from the Philippines and Indonesia introduced experiences in seed production, application of resource conservation technology, and household and farm-scale crab farming models that are bringing high economic efficiency.
Speaking at the workshop, Dr. Lovatelli Alessandro, an FAO aquaculture expert, said: To build a sustainable crab industry, Vietnam in general and Ca Mau in particular need to focus on expanding seed production capacity, improving the genetic quality of parent crabs, developing low-cost but nutritious feed. At the same time, strengthen the management of aquatic health.
Dr. Lovatelli Alessandro emphasized the importance of a strong, fair, transparent value chain, in line with the three pillars of the “Blue Transformation” strategy of sustainable growth, effective governance and equitable value chain development. According to Dr. Alessandro, promoting research cooperation and digital transformation in aquaculture management will help the mud crab industry increase its resilience to climate change, making a practical contribution to global food security and a sustainable ocean economy.

Producing high-quality seeds, ensuring stability and good growth ability. Processing value-added products and utilizing crab by-products. Applying blockchain, traceability and global market analysis to improve competitiveness.
Delegates also discussed in depth solutions to control diseases, improve the quality of breeds, ensure safety and biodiversity. At the same time, they also oriented strategies to bring Ca Mau crabs to major markets, increase the proportion of processing, preservation and promote exports.
With the participation of many leading experts, representatives of enterprises and international organizations, the workshop contributed practical recommendations to help Ca Mau perfect the innovation ecosystem in the crab industry. Thereby affirming the brand "Ca Mau Crab" in the domestic and international markets.
