Tam Hoa is a coastal sandy commune of Nui Thanh district, with 80% of households living on agriculture, so agricultural products here are very diverse and rich, such as cassava (some places call it Siamese potato), taro, beans, coconut, corn, sesame...
During the harvest season, the selling price of agricultural products is very low, so many households use agricultural products to process into feed for livestock and poultry. Some families use them as daily “snack” food. Meanwhile, the source of local agricultural products is abundant and guaranteed to be clean because farmers rarely use chemicals from planting to harvesting.
Ms. Pham Thi Trien shared that, understanding the consumer psychology about the need to consume clean products in the countryside, at the same time, to take advantage of clean local agricultural products, creating dishes with cultural characteristics of coastal sand areas, she used sticky rice and green beans to make green bean cakes.
The first success is that the product attracts a relatively large number of local customers thanks to the outstanding features of the product from Tam Hoa's homeland.
Ms. Le Thi Anh Truc - President of the Women's Union of Tam Hoa commune said: The outstanding feature of the product "Ky Anh green bean cake" is that the product has no preservatives, no colorants; clean, quality ingredients, clear origin; safe processing, ensuring hygiene; the product is delicious, crispy, with a rich flavor of sticky rice and green beans.
In fact, the product with reasonable price is popular in the market. “Ky Anh green bean cake - a rustic gift from the homeland” opens up the opportunity to promote clean, self-produced products of Tam Hoa commune women and has initially reached consumers in Nui Thanh district and neighboring localities such as Tam Ky city, Thang Binh district...
To carry out the project "Ky Anh green bean cake - a rustic gift from the homeland", Ms. Trien initially invested 40 million VND, of which she took advantage of her living space, invested in the production site, equipment and machinery of about 20 million VND.
According to calculations, in the first year, the average revenue is 5 million VND/month, with an output of 200 cake packages/month; in the second year, it is 7 million VND/month with 300 cake packages/month; in the third year and beyond, it is expected to reach 10 million VND/month with 500 cake packages/month. Thus, in the first year, Ms. Trien's cake production facility has a revenue of 60 million VND, minus expenses, making a profit of 30 million VND; in the second year, the revenue is 84 million VND, minus expenses, making a profit of 42 million VND; in the third year and beyond, the revenue is 120 million VND, minus expenses, making a profit of 60 million VND.
According to Ms. Le Thi Anh Truc - President of the Women's Union of Tam Hoa commune, although the project is not large in scale and has low revenue, it is sustainable and safe. The project idea "Ky Anh green bean cake - a rustic gift from the homeland" by Ms. Pham Thi Trien won second prize in the final round of the District-level Women's Entrepreneurship Competition with the theme "Nui Thanh Women Start Creative and Green Transformation" in 2024.
Green bean cake is a very popular product on the market, used on banquet trays, ceremonies, death anniversaries, Tet, full moon and first day of the lunar month and is a favorite dish of many people. From there, the product contributes to promoting the strengths of Tam Hoa rural agricultural products, diversifying and promoting local products of the Nui Thanh region, promoting economic development, creating more sustainable income for women's association members in the area.
Ms. Pham Thi Trien said that, besides the advantages, the facility is currently lacking capital to expand the factory and purchase machinery. Therefore, in the coming time, she hopes that the locality and especially the Women's Union at all levels will pay attention and create conditions for the facility to access preferential capital to develop production and build the brand "Ky Anh green bean cake - a rustic gift from the homeland" more and more effectively.
