Selling moon cakes on Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Street (Binh Thanh District) for the past few days, Ms. Ho Thi Hoa said that this year she opened the sale earlier because she wanted to welcome early customers, especially corporate customers buying as gifts. According to Ms. Hoa's stall, most of the familiar brands such as Kinh Do, Dong Khanh, Nhu Lan... are available, the price only increased by 1,000 - 3,000 VND/cake compared to last year.

The common selling price is 45,000 - 150,000 VND/piece depending on size and brand. Of which, Dong Khanh cake line (mainly produced by small retail establishments) has the lowest price from 45,000 - 70,000 VND/piece; Kinh Do cake has a common price of 60,000 - 140,000 VND/piece, especially the 4-egg roast chicken (800g) priced at 410,000 VND/piece. "The price of many types of cakes has only increased slightly compared to last year, while the price of Kinh Do cakes is listed by the business. If customers buy a lot, they will get an additional discount," said Ms. Hoa.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy, director of Dong Khanh Foodstuff Company ( Long An ), with the Dong Khanh Bong Lua Vang cake brand, said that the amount of moon cakes produced this year is expected to be stable as last year, but the selling price will increase slightly by about 1,000 - 1,500 VND/piece. According to Ms. Thuy, because it is early in the season and the number of customers is still being measured, she does not dare to produce much, except for orders placed in advance by businesses and agents.

Meanwhile, Sheraton Saigon Grand Opera Hotel said that this year it will introduce eight different types of fillings including savory and sweet fillings, especially launching a collection of mooncakes with three luxurious box designs. According to this unit, the selling price of mooncakes ranges from VND1,488,000/box of four cakes to VND2,988,000/VIP box of five cakes with tea.

Some other manufacturers said that the selling price of some types will increase by 1,000 - 4,000 VND/piece compared to last year. In terms of variety, there are some new types of cakes but the basic flavors are still the same such as traditional baked cakes, moon cakes with roasted chicken sausage, taro, coconut, lotus seeds, green beans...

Due to the psychology of probing demand, businesses have not yet boldly produced and launched to the market, and many small production facilities have not yet set specific selling prices. However, with the raw materials in reserve, manufacturers said they are always ready to immediately supply a large quantity of mooncakes if the market needs them.
