Press contributes to green economic development

Binh Duong is strongly transforming towards developing a green economy, a circular economy, taking sustainability as a pillar, not trading the environment for short-term growth. From industrial parks to agricultural and rural areas in the province, many clean, resource-saving and environmentally friendly production models have been formed and are being effectively promoted. The press, as an essential communication channel, has contributed to spreading the spirit of green development to the community, together supporting the local sustainable development journey.

Together to build a green environment

Mr. Tran Thanh Quang, Head of the Department of Environmental Protection (Department of Agriculture and Environment), said that Binh Duong always adheres to the principle: Do not trade the environment for economic development; resolutely eliminate outdated technology projects that cause pollution, prioritize attracting clean technology investment projects, and use resources efficiently. This principle has been concretized by many green economic projects. Typically, the Lego Group (Denmark) has invested in the Lego Factory in the Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park III, the first carbon-neutral factory in Vietnam, using renewable energy and not emitting greenhouse gases. In addition, the AB InBev Brewery Project (Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park II-A) applies solar energy, saving nearly 850,000kWh of electricity per year.

In the agricultural sector, 4 high-tech agricultural zones have been established in the province. These models not only produce safe, quality products but also help reduce chemicals and preserve the soil and water ecosystem. The application of farming processes according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards is also a step forward in building a green agricultural product chain. Binh Duong also invests heavily in environmental treatment infrastructure. The compost plant with a capacity of nearly 1,700 tons/day, a 4.6MW waste-to-energy incineration system, and heat recovery from landfills to generate electricity... demonstrate Binh Duong's strong commitment to reducing waste pressure and turning waste into resources.

In addition to policies, investment attraction, science and technology, it is impossible not to mention the role of the press and media in promoting and orienting green development thinking. From investigative articles on environmental pollution to a series of reports on green businesses and green products, the press is a companion that helps the community raise awareness and contribute to replicating environmental protection models. According to the development orientation, Binh Duong continues to promote the implementation of solutions for circular economic development. In this journey, the press and media continue to make important contributions to bringing the circular economy from policy to concrete action in each business and each citizen.

Promote the role of connection

Every year, on the occasion of World Environment Day (June 5), the press in Binh Duong becomes a vibrant information bridge, conveying the spirit of green living. From environmental cleaning campaigns and tree planting by political and social organizations and unions to plastic waste recycling models in schools and neighborhoods, the press not only records but also informs and encourages typical examples. Many articles and radio and television programs have realistically portrayed examples of "green farmers", "green workers", people who quietly preserve the environment from small daily tasks. Images of teachers instructing students to classify trash or neighborhood leaders encouraging people to use handbags instead of nylon bags... have all become bright spots in the media.

Ms. Truong Thi Thu Thuong, reporter for Binh Duong Radio and Television, confided: “We often go to residential areas, cooperatives, and factories to record and interview. When images of farmers using organic fertilizers or businesses using solar energy appear on the airwaves, viewers find them specific and easy to follow. We are very happy to have brought people useful work.” In addition, the press is also a “connector” between managers - investors - people. Articles reflecting difficulties in accessing green credit, policies that have not kept up with the needs of technological innovation, etc. have contributed to prompting authorities to make timely adjustments. Mr. Dang Thanh Quang, reporter for Binh Duong Newspaper, shared that through reflecting on reality and warning about polluting behaviors, the press not only contributes to raising public awareness but also becomes an effective connection channel, promoting green lifestyles and sustainable development.

Despite many remarkable achievements, Binh Duong still faces many challenges when implementing the development of the circular economic model. According to the assessment of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, most enterprises in the province are small and medium-sized, have limited technological capacity, and lack financial resources to invest in innovating green production lines. The market for recycled products has not developed proportionally; the concept of circular economy is still new to many people. In that context, the press continues to play a connecting and disseminating role. Articles on changes in production and consumption thinking, introducing green initiatives, support policies, etc. help raise public awareness. The press and media play a bridging role between policy - businesses - people. This is also one of the key points to promote circular economy and sustainable development.

Ms. Truong Thanh Nga, Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department: Green economy and circular economy are inevitable paths towards sustainable development. The press and media play an important role in disseminating policies, raising awareness, monitoring and promoting actions throughout society. The provincial press discovers and honors environmental protection initiatives, contributing to promoting circular economy, green growth and sustainable development...
