Vietnam's revolutionary press is constantly growing, accompanying the country's development.
The press is like bright eyes
Late afternoon, in a small corner of Duc Hoa town, Duc Hoa district, Long An province, Ms. Le Thi Lan sat attentively looking at her phone screen, reading each line of a report about a poor student who overcame difficulties. After reading, she fell silent, her voice dropping: "The boy looks so much like my neighbor in the past!"
The emotional article about her student moved her to tears. For her, reading the newspaper every day is a time to gain more faith in life.
This is not the first time Ms. Lan has been moved by reading an article. She still remembers articles about an old man who has been patching tires for free for decades for poor students, a poor woman who silently takes care of a mentally ill homeless person, a professor who is willing to use his savings to support people affected by natural disasters, etc.
Those stories and acts of kindness are not noisy but enough to touch the reader's heart.
Amidst the flood of information, the press still quietly searches for beauty and inspiring stories. That is the “golden material” for journalists to write humanistic symphonies.
To create emotional, touching, and life-affirming journalistic works, reporters and journalists spend a lot of time going to the places to talk to the characters, listen, and understand.
I remember following a group of journalists to the border area. We went to a charity class that had been maintained for many years. In a small room in the middle of nowhere, the sound of spelling "e a" mixed with the sound of the wind.
The children were mostly the children of poor workers. A little girl smiled innocently and asked: “Are you a journalist? Please put my picture in the newspaper!” The journalist smiled and nodded.
After days of staying in the field, a lively, realistic article was published that received the attention of readers. Many benefactors came to the class to help. They donated books, clothes, and some even sponsored scholarships. "Never before have the children received so many gifts!" - the person in charge of the class said, her voice filled with tears.
That is one of countless small stories that the press has been telling through words, images, clips, and with the emotions from the hearts of those in the profession.
Not only are there articles about kindness, journalists are also not afraid to expose injustice and wrongdoing. The press still quietly and silently “lights a fire in the darkness” every day, not only to illuminate the beauty but also to dispel the ugliness.
Each article, each photo, each video clip at the scene is the result, proof of the tireless dedication of reporters and journalists.
At a small coffee shop near Ben Luc intersection (Ben Luc district), I met Mr. Le Van Chuong, a retired cadre. He took out an old newspaper, with frayed corners but the printed lines were still clear.
He said, “This article reflects the situation of someone spreading nails on Highway 1. Perhaps, this was done by bad guys intentionally causing damage to vehicles to repair and profit. I am angry about the bad guys’ actions, but I am very grateful to the press for reporting the incident. That is how the press is, not only reporting the news but also strongly fighting to eliminate bad things in life.”

"Warm heart, sharp pen"
Reporters and journalists always strive to produce quality journalism.
On the land of Long An, the press continues its journey, spreading good things, eliminating bad things, accompanying the aspiration to rise up.
Member of the Provincial Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department - Hoang Dinh Can repeatedly emphasized in meetings with journalists: "The press is a companion in the development of the province. Press works about good people, good deeds, patriotic emulation movements, studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style are catalysts for the community to cherish and spread beauty and goodness in everyday life."
Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee - Nguyen Thanh Vung also shared many times that the press is a very useful information channel in administration and management, a "bridge" between government levels and the people and vice versa.
The press not only provides information but also participates in the process of alerting, educating, and promoting integrity in society.
During press conferences, Colonel Lam Minh Hong - Director of the Provincial Police Department, often emphasized: "The press is not only a propaganda agency but also a place for people to express their thoughts and aspirations. Information, analysis and criticism from the press are very helpful for state management agencies in making decisions."
Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association of Long An Province, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Long An Newspaper and Radio and Television Station - journalist Chau Hong Kha said that in recent years, the provincial authorities at all levels have stepped up propaganda coordination with press agencies. Special pages and columns on protecting the Party's ideological foundation, judicial reform, anti-corruption, natural resources and environment, etc. have been maintained regularly in all types of press.
This coordination affirms the government's trust in the press, an indispensable companion on the development journey.
"In order to improve the skills and expertise of the provincial press team, the Association and press agencies in the province regularly organize training courses on various types of journalism," emphasized journalist Chau Hong Kha.
Recalling his feelings about his unforgettable work, journalist Kien Dinh (Long An Newspaper and Radio and Television) said that articles about good people or reflecting on existence, shortcomings, and negativity were all full of hardships. But the more so, the more he felt he had to do it thoroughly.
The joy is doubled for Kien Dinh when the article is published and creates a social effect. “Deep down in my heart, I am happy and always try to find good topics and quality journalism works” - journalist Kien Dinh shared.
Huynh Du (reporter of Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper, residing in Long An province) said: “Every story told carries the responsibility of a journalist. Whether writing about good people or exposing negativity, it requires dedication and courage. Every day, I still work hard at journalism with all my heart and passion.”
In the digital age, when social networks are flooded with mixed information, the press still plays a guiding role, a beacon of light to guide the way.
Journalists are not simply news reporters, they are soldiers on the cultural and ideological front, always carrying warm hearts and sharp pens, to enlighten, move, and awaken.
Although time passes, the mission of journalists remains unchanged. They listen, record, and tell stories so that people can understand each other better, love each other more, be kinder, and also to push back injustice, wrongdoing, and negativity.
With a “bright mind, pure heart, sharp pen”, the press is always a strong and solid bridge connecting the Party, the State with the People and vice versa. And the question “What is writing for?” is always asked by reporters and journalists to have topics and press works that bring the “breath” of life./.
