Ensure the selection of truly representative and worthy delegates

In preparation for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2030 term, recently, the Politburo , the National Assembly, the National Assembly Standing Committee, Party committees, the Government and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front have issued many important directives, resolutions and guiding documents. The National Assembly has passed a Resolution to establish the National Election Council to organize the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly; at the same time, it has directed and guided the election of People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term in accordance with legal regulations.

With the active and synchronous participation of agencies, organizations and localities, it can be affirmed that the election preparation work has been carried out methodically and on schedule. The national conference to disseminate the Politburo 's Directive and deploy the election work was held directly at the Dien Hong meeting room and connected online to provincial and commune-level bridges in 34 provinces and cities, demonstrating high determination in directing and organizing the implementation of this important task.

Our country is entering a new stage of development, with increasingly high demands and challenges. That places great demands on the National Assembly and National Assembly deputies of the 16th tenure as well as on People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term. I hope that individuals nominated for candidacy need to be thoroughly prepared in terms of knowledge, courage, skills and sense of responsibility; the nominating agencies also need to seriously and objectively implement, ensuring the selection of exemplary and worthy personnel.

We need to pay special attention to the quality of candidates in each step of negotiation, in addition to requirements on structure, composition, age, gender, ethnicity, religion, etc. Only then will the quality of National Assembly deputies continue to be improved, worthy of being representatives of the people, elected by the people and serving the people.

I would like to emphasize that each candidate, when presenting his/her action program to the voters, must clearly demonstrate his/her commitment and responsibility. When elected as a National Assembly representative, he/she must seriously implement that action program; not just talk, not make promises without following through.

Each National Assembly delegate must perform well the role of a bridge between voters and the National Assembly. The delegate not only brings the people's thoughts, aspirations and voices to the parliament, but also fully conveys the resolutions, policies and laws of the National Assembly to the people. New delegates, whether re-elected or elected for the first time, must strive to perform well this role to consolidate the people's trust, create social consensus and contribute to strengthening the connection between the National Assembly and voters.

A heavy but also glorious responsibility awaits the new term of elected representatives. I believe that, with careful preparation and a high sense of responsibility, the delegates will successfully fulfill the mission entrusted by the voters, meet the people's expectations, and make a positive contribution to the country's development in the new period.
