The Philippines is bracing for super typhoon Mawar, which is expected to bring widespread rain and strong winds this weekend.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration warned on May 26 that Typhoon Mawar is continuing to strengthen as it heads toward the Philippines. It is forecast to bring heavy rains, causing flash floods and landslides in many areas, including Metro Manila.
The agency said the storm is currently moving northwest of Luzon Island at 25 km/h, with winds of 215 km/h and gusts of up to 265 km/h.
The possibility of super typhoon Mawar making landfall in China is increasing.
