Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper opens training course on AI application in digital journalism content creation

This is the first step in realizing the cooperation program between Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper and the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology, signed by the leaders of the two units on January 19, 2024.

The course is organized by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper in collaboration with Post and Telecommunications Training Center 2 - Post and Telecommunications Technology Academy (Ministry of Information and Communications) and experts from ALM and Keystone.

Training course instructors include:

Expert Nguyen Van Thuc - Founder and CEO of KEYSTONE, Member of the Training and Human Resources Development Council of the Institute of Science, Technology and Enterprise Development;

Expert Nguyen Thang Long, founder and director of Asia Learning Management, Head of Trade Promotion Board of Vietnam Association for Research and Application of Biomedical Technology;

MSc. Dinh Duy Linh, Director of Post and Telecommunications Training Center II, Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology, Head of Communications and Training Department, Vietnam Association for Research and Application of Biomedical Technology.

Mr. Le Cuong, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, General Secretary of the Editorial Board of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper delivered the opening speech of the course.

The course's students are all staff members of the content, business, and administrative departments of the Lao Dong Newspaper, such as editorial secretaries, department heads/deputy heads, editors, reporters, artists, etc.

Course content includes: overview of AI and automatic data update tools; AI in news production, text articles; podcasts, photo talking; news synthesis, analysis and infographic creation; quick production of short video clips; reportage creation techniques using multi-interactive Livestream.

Overview of the lesson

Speaking at the opening of the training course, Mr. Le Cuong, Deputy Editor-in-Chief and General Secretary of the Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, emphasized that this was the first time the newspaper organized a training course on applying AI to journalism with a large number of participants and a long duration (21 days).

"The purpose of the course is to help students form habits and use AI proficiently in professional work.

After the training, students will be able to understand the working principles of generative artificial intelligence and prompt engineering techniques to effectively exploit AI tools to enhance visual and video effects.

Ability to use AI to create written newsletters, podcasts quickly.

Ability to use AI and supporting tools to create short videos/clips from the scene.

“It is possible to use AI to synthesize and analyze data to create a series of events to create infographics and charts,” Mr. Le Cuong shared.

According to MSc. Dinh Duy Linh, Director of Post and Telecommunications Training Center 2, AI is updated daily, so it is necessary to understand the principles to apply to digital press products to help reduce processing time and increase labor productivity.
