In the report broadcast at the program, Dr. To Dinh Tuan, Party Secretary and Editor-in-Chief of the Lao Dong Newspaper, said that in June 2019, the Editorial Board of the Lao Dong Newspaper launched the program "One million national flags with fishermen at sea". The Lao Dong Newspaper has closely coordinated with the Vietnam Journalists Association to organize many meaningful programs, including the program "Heart of the sea and islands" to join hands to contribute to preserving and firmly protecting the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the "Heart of the Sea and Islands" art exchange program, Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, said that over the past years, the press has actively and effectively participated in promoting the strategic position of Vietnam's seas and islands. Propaganda work has made important strides in both breadth and depth. Content, form and propaganda measures have been innovated and closely followed reality.

In addition to promoting the protection of national sovereignty, the press has clearly reflected the task of developing the marine economy. Reporters and editors have made working trips to the islands, staying close to the sea with fishermen to get hot news. Thereby, showing that the sea and islands are an inseparable part of Vietnam's territorial integrity.

Journalists, through their works, always encourage patriotism and national pride; at the same time, there are many journalistic works to further beautify the image of our country to international friends, which is a proud image of the sky and sea of the Fatherland Vietnam.

The art exchange program "Heart of the sea and islands" wants to spread the message of love for the country, pride in Vietnam's skies and seas, and the aspiration to build a strong, peaceful and happy Vietnam.

"Heart of the Sea and Islands" is an annual program organized by the Vietnam Journalists Association. And today, March 11, the program aims to continue to pay tribute to those who have devoted their lives to the cause of protecting the sea and islands, and to encourage the spirit of the beloved children of the Fatherland who are steadfastly sticking to their duties in our seas and islands. These are the naval forces, the coast guard, the fisheries surveillance force, the border guards, and the fishermen; they are making a fortune from the sea and are truly "living milestones" of sovereignty over the sea and islands in the East Sea.

Stemming from the patriotism and responsibility of journalists, with the desire to contribute to protecting the sovereignty of the country's borders and islands, since June 2019, the Editorial Board of the Lao Dong Newspaper has launched and implemented the program " One million national flags with fishermen at sea ". By April 2021, in coordination with the Border Guard Command, with the support of the Vietnam Rubber Group, the component "Frontier National Flags" was officially put into implementation.

On September 8, 2022, at the celebration ceremony of the program "One million national flags with fishermen at sea" surpassing the milestone, more than 1.2 million national flags were awarded and signed to be awarded to localities, armed forces, units and organizations nationwide.
