Nhan Dan Newspaper donates over 500 million VND to support people in flood-hit areas of Quang Tri

QTO - On the afternoon of October 31, the leader of the Representative Office of Nhan Dan Newspaper in Quang Tri said that the unit had just coordinated with local authorities to hand-deliver gifts with a total value of more than 500 million VND to support people affected by recent floods.

From the support of benefactors, Nhan Dan Newspaper handed over to 770 households in villages in Cang area, Nam Hai Lang commune and Dien Sanh commune a total of more than 380 million VND in cash; 120 million VND was used to buy computers, warm clothes, boots, raincoats for preschool and primary school students in Khe Sanh commune.

It is known that over the past few days, due to prolonged heavy rain, the above areas have been flooded 1-1.5m deep, the mountainous areas of Khe Sanh commune have also been affected by landslides; in many low-lying areas of Nam Hai Lang and Dien Sanh communes, village roads have turned into small rivers, causing traffic to be cut off for a week now, people have had to use boats to travel, life has encountered many difficulties.

Receiving the support gift, Mr. Duong Van Van in Hoi Ky village, Nam Hai Lang commune emotionally said: “In the past few days, the water has been deep, people's lives have been difficult, especially in eating and drinking. Now the water is receding, but all the furniture in the house is damaged, we don't know how to get back to normal life. Therefore, today, receiving the gift from Nhan Dan Newspaper, although not large, we are very excited and touched. This is a source of encouragement to help our family overcome this difficult period."

A representative of the local government of Nam Hai Lang commune said that in order to share the difficulties with the people, along with the support of charitable organizations and individuals, the gifts from Nhan Dan Newspaper contributed to helping people stabilize their lives soon after the flood.
