Peaceful "village in the city"

QTO - Dong Son is one of the wards that has just been established on the basis of merging communes and wards in Dong Hoi City (old). From the patriotic emulation movements with effective models, many examples of diligent and dedicated cadres have appeared in the locality. From there, creating trust and motivation for people to actively participate in building bright-green-clean-beautiful residential areas, forming livable countrysides.

Bright, green, clean and beautiful residential areas

Walking on the streets lined with flags and flowers in the early autumn weather, blending with the vibrant sounds of the new life after the merger, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Son Ward Ngo Thi Hong Tham proudly introduced: On the basis of merging the entire natural area and population of the wards and communes: Dong Son, Bac Nghia, Nghia Ninh and Thuan Duc, Dong Son Ward currently has 10,999 households, with 32,400 people, living in 36 residential groups (TDP).

The localities are geographically adjacent and border each other; have similar historical and cultural traditions; similar customs and practices of the people; have convenient transportation systems, creating conditions for socio -economic development and people's transactions. Therefore, all classes of people in the area have the same will and aspirations towards building a civilized and prosperous life; enthusiastically participate in patriotic emulation movements.

In particular, people in 36 residential areas have enthusiastically carried out patriotic emulation movements associated with studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, and major campaigns such as: "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas", "All people protect the environment, build bright-green-clean-beautiful residential areas"... These activities have contributed significantly to improving people's lives, brightening up residential areas, creating peaceful and quiet "villages in the city".

Typical examples in building bright-green-clean-beautiful residential areas are Thuan Phuoc, Trung Nghia 5, TDP 11, TDP 2 My Cuong... Along with raising emulation movements, TDP 2 My Cuong is considered a comprehensive example in both content and form; especially the effective propaganda and mobilization method of Head of the Front Work Committee Nguyen Thi Ly using the mural model.

“My Cuong Residential Area 2 currently has 280 households, 897 people, most of whom are retired officials, and a small number of them are traders. The lives of the households are stable with a good income. Thanks to that, the emulation movements always receive the approval and cooperation of 100% of the households, demonstrating a high sense of responsibility for community life, building an increasingly civilized and modern residential area. The Residential Area 2 has been chosen for many years as the venue for the National Great Unity Day on November 18th, linking residential areas at the provincial and city levels every year...

According to the assessment of the Party Secretary of Dong Son Ward Nguyen Huu Phuoc, from the emulation movements with effective models, many examples of diligent and dedicated cadres have emerged. A typical example is the Head of the Front Work Committee of My Cuong Residential Group 2 Nguyen Thi Ly.

Promoting her role, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ly always proactively takes advantage of the leadership and direction of superiors, coordinates smoothly with member organizations in management and mobilization work. In particular, she always focuses on and spends a lot of time being close to the people, creating consensus, mobilizing the active participation of people in the TDP in movements and campaigns.

Thanks to that, the models of "civilized, exemplary urban residential area", "Residential area joins hands to protect the environment", "My house has a fire extinguisher"... have been implemented methodically and effectively by 100% of households in the residential area; both creating a positive response from the people and spreading strongly in the residential community.

At the same time, the TDP Front Committee always pays attention to expanding and regularly maintaining the activities of the "Culture-Arts- Sports " club with folk dance, health care, table tennis, volleyball, cycling, folk singing..., creating opportunities for exchange, healthy playgrounds, improving the cultural and spiritual life of the people. This TDP Front Committee also focuses on visiting and giving gifts to policy families, war invalids and martyrs; actively donating to support the people of the North to overcome the consequences of storms and floods in 2024, supporting the Cuban people on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of Vietnam-Cuba relations... Thereby, strengthening the close relationship and solidarity between the people of all walks of life in the area.

From the improvement of material, cultural and spiritual life, the movements to beautify the environment have been responded by the people. The "flower roads" and "flower spots" have been replicated throughout the residential area with a total length of more than 1,000m; the "Flag Road" model has been maintained with a length of 3,600m, creating a solemn and beautiful space during holidays and Tet. Over 95% of households buy and use personal trash cans; people regularly maintain environmental sanitation activities on the second Sunday morning of every month...

For many years in a row, the My Cuong 2 Residential Area Front Committee has been evaluated by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee at all levels as a collective that has excellently completed its tasks and is a bright spot in implementing patriotic emulation movements at the grassroots level. Personally, the Head of the My Cuong 2 Residential Area Front Committee, Nguyen Thi Ly, has received many certificates of merit from all levels. In 2023, she was awarded a certificate of merit by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; in 2025, she was awarded a certificate of merit by the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee for her outstanding achievements in implementing patriotic emulation movements in the period 2020-2025.

The strong mark of the Front official Nguyen Thi Ly is that in recent years, the Front Work Committee of My Cuong Residential Area 2 has coordinated to mobilize from many sources with an amount of over 100 million VND to paint 80 square meters of murals with themes such as: Praising the Party, Uncle Ho, labor production, environmental protection, communication "speaking good words, doing good deeds"... creating a public cultural space, multiplying trust and spirit in the community.
