Sport said Fati enjoys high remuneration at Camp Nou. When he renewed his contract in 2021, the striker received 6 million euros/season. However, the contract clause stipulates that Fati's salary will increase by 2 million euros/year. This means that by 2025, the striker can receive up to 12 million euros/season.

The contract between the two parties will expire in 2027, Fati can pocket around 14 million euros/season in his final year at Camp Nou. This is too high a salary compared to Fati's actual contribution. This makes him a problem for Barcelona when the team tries to tighten spending to balance the operating budget.

Speaking about Fati's case, coach Hansi Flick said: "It is important to be honest with the players. He will be the one to decide his own future. If Fati wants to stay, that's fine."

The German coach avoided answering questions about Fati's playing time if he stays. There is no sign that the striker will be given more opportunities for the rest of the season.
