( Bqp.vn ) - On the evening of October 11, at the National Military Training Center 4, the Ministry of National Defense held the closing ceremony of the 2024 National Defense Sports Festival. Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Sports Festival attended and delivered the closing speech.
Also attending were: Lieutenant General Thai Van Minh, Director of the Military Training Department, General Staff, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Sports Festival Organizing Committee; Lieutenant General Pham Quang Ngan, Director of the Militia and Self-Defense Department, General Staff, Deputy Head of the Sports Festival Organizing Committee.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia presented flags to the teams that won first, second and third prizes in the entire army.
The 2024 National Defense Sports Festival brings together 2,688 coaches and athletes from 43 agencies and units across the army to compete in 12 events. The regular force competes in 9 events: Volleyball, tennis, badminton, table tennis, unarmed combat, strong soldiers, armed swimming, overcoming obstacles, 3,000m armed obstacle race. The militia and self-defense force competes in 3 events: Combined military triathlon, armed swimming, combat martial arts. The athletes compete from September 28 to October 11, at 4 locations: National Military Training Center 4, Special Forces Officer School, Political Officer School, Army Officer School 1.
The Organizing Committee representative awarded the flags to the First, Second and Third prizes to the militia and self-defense force.
Results of the regular sports festival: Military Region 1 (First prize), Military Region 3 (Second prize), Military Region 5 (Third prize), Military Region 7 (Encouragement prize). The results of the First, Second and Third prizes of the militia and self-defense force respectively include: Military Region 7, Military Region 3 and Hanoi Capital Command.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia warmly congratulated the success of the sports festival, praising the efforts of the Organizing Committee, referees, host units and units and individuals with outstanding achievements. This is a very encouraging result, reflecting the reality of training work and sports movement in the Army and the militia and self-defense forces in recent times.
The sports festival is truly a competition day, leaving valuable lessons for physical training and the sports movement in the unit. The forces participating in the sports festival have demonstrated a good spirit of solidarity, honesty, and wholehearted competition, aiming at the goal of "Healthy to build and protect the Fatherland" of the cadres and athletes. The results of the sports festival clearly reflect the awareness and responsibility in leadership, direction, and organization of implementation of the Party Committees and commanders at all levels for training in general and physical training in particular, meeting the requirements of the task of building and protecting the Fatherland.

To promote the physical training movement, as well as physical training and sports activities in the Army and the militia and self-defense forces, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia requested agencies and units to do a good job of propaganda so that the units and soldiers have the right awareness of physical training, meeting the training requirements of the unit. The competent agencies actively advise and propose solutions to improve the effectiveness of physical training and develop the physical training and sports movement in agencies and units throughout the army. Continuing to replicate the advanced models at the sports festival, the units will draw lessons for the more sustainable development of physical training and the physical training and sports movement.
