On May 8, the police of Ward 9, District 5, Ho Chi Minh City coordinated to investigate and clarify the cause of the incident where a dry tree branch fell near Van Lang Park and hit a boy named TNPD (born in 2015), causing a fractured skull and a poor prognosis.

According to Mr. TNH (born in 1994, temporarily residing in District 6, Ho Chi Minh City, D.'s father), at around 6:00 p.m. on May 7, Mr. H. went to Ho Thi Ky Primary School (Ward 1, District 10) to pick up D. from school. When he reached the Hung Vuong-Ngo Quyen intersection (next to Van Lang Park), Mr. H. stopped at a red light. Suddenly, a dry tree branch fell from above, hitting D. on the head and hitting Mr. H. in the back, causing him to fall off his bike.

Baby D. collapsed and lost consciousness. Mr. H. and his father were taken to Cho Ray Hospital with the help of local people. There, doctors said that baby D. had a fractured skull, bone fragments were deeply embedded inside and could not be operated on, the prognosis was poor, and asked Mr. H.'s family to prepare mentally.
At the scene, the police of Ward 9, District 5 were present and recorded that the dry branch was about 5-10cm in diameter and more than 1m long. The base of the branch seemed to have been cut off beforehand. The police of Ward 9 coordinated with related units to clarify the cause of the heartbreaking incident.

Mr. H. said that D. is his first child. Mr. H. works as a laborer every day, and his wife sells goods at the market. Ms. Truong Minh Kieu, Chairman of the People's Committee of District 5, said that she has learned about the incident and sent a delegation to visit and encourage Mr. H.'s family, while also sending people to closely monitor the incident to have a timely support plan for Mr. H.'s family.
