Fire at Hai Phong Department of Finance headquarters, many documents damaged

On May 29, information from the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, Hai Phong City Police said that the unit had just extinguished a fire at the headquarters of Hai Phong Department of Finance No. 2 that occurred in the afternoon of the same day.

According to information, at 1:30 p.m. on May 29, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department received a report through the 114 Command Center about a fire at the headquarters of the Hai Phong Department of Finance No. 2 (address No. 1 Dinh Tien Hoang, Hong Bang District).

Immediately after receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department mobilized forces and 4 specialized fire trucks to the scene, blocked off the area and organized fire fighting and rescue.

The fire was determined to have broken out in an office on the second floor of the two-story building. After about 20 minutes of trying to spray water to put out the fire and isolate it, the fire brigade completely controlled the fire.

Initially, there were no reports of human damage, however the fire destroyed many records, papers and documents.

It is known that the scene of the fire is the headquarters of the Department of Planning and Investment of Hai Phong. From March 2025, this Department merged with the Department of Finance of Hai Phong to form the Department of Finance of Hai Phong. However, the old facility continues to be used as headquarters No. 2 of the Department of Finance of Hai Phong.

Currently, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department is coordinating with relevant functional units to examine the scene, determine the cause of the fire to resolve it according to the provisions of law.
