(Dan Tri) - While playing, a boy in Quang Tri accidentally swallowed a screw longer than 24mm. Doctors performed an endoscopy to remove the screw.
On March 16, Quang Tri General Hospital announced the successful emergency treatment of a 3-year-old patient who swallowed a dangerous foreign object.
The patient is HPH, residing in Vinh Hoa commune, Vinh Linh district, Quang Tri. According to information from the family, while playing, the child accidentally swallowed a screw.
Doctors at the hospital's General Surgery Department quickly examined and ordered an abdominal X-ray for the child. The results showed a foreign object in the digestive tract, measuring more than 24mm.
After consultation, the doctors performed endoscopy using a flexible endoscope to successfully remove the foreign object. The patient's health has stabilized and is being monitored further.
