Accordingly, patient TTH (93 years old, Ninh Phuoc commune) was admitted to the hospital with a complete loss of movement and sensation from the left arm to the hand. Through examination and paraclinical tests, the CT angiography results showed that the patient had a complete blockage of the left brachial artery due to a blood clot, causing acute limb ischemia. In this case, if not treated promptly, the patient will suffer from necrosis and have to have the limb amputated.
Faced with the patient's critical condition, the hospital's Interventional Cardiology team quickly performed angiography and balloon angioplasty to clear the left brachial artery using a digital subtraction angiography system. After the intervention, blood flow was completely restored to the left forearm and hand. As a result, the patient's clinical symptoms were completely improved, the pulse was clear, the hand was rosy, and the hand was warm again.
