BPO - Recently, Hoan My Binh Phuoc Hospital received a patient named D.C. (born in 1957, residing in Phu Son commune, Bu Dang district, Binh Phuoc) who was admitted with difficulty breathing, loss of communication ability, and a serious health prognosis. At the time of admission, the patient was in critical condition, with purple lips, weak breathing, sweating, and cold limbs. Based on the paraclinical results, the patient was diagnosed with: cardiogenic shock, acute pulmonary edema, myocardial infarction, severe acidosis, hyperkalemia, type 2 diabetes, chronic kidney disease. Given the very serious condition and high risk of death, the emergency team quickly organized a consultation with the head of the emergency shift, the head of the Emergency Resuscitation Department and the dialysis unit to come up with the optimal treatment regimen.

Immediately afterwards, the patient was put on dialysis, continued to be put on a ventilator, and used vasopressors. After 24 hours of intensive treatment, the patient showed clear signs of improvement: more alert, stable pulse and blood pressure, and improved test results. The patient was taken off the ventilator, stopped using vasopressors, and fatigue and chest pain decreased. The patient's condition gradually stabilized and he was transferred to the Internal Medicine Department for further monitoring and treatment. Once his health stabilized, he was expected to be transferred to the cardiovascular intervention unit.

Sharing about the incident, Mr. D.C.’s family said: “At that time, we were really panicked and could only put all our trust in the medical team. After the doctors explained clearly, we understood the critical condition of our relative and could only hope.” Currently, Mr. D.C. is awake, does not need oxygen, his chest pain has completely subsided and his health is recovering positively. In the next few days, he can be discharged from the hospital.

One of the people who contributed significantly to the success of this emergency was Dr. Dong Huu Thanh, Head of the Emergency Department - Intensive Care Unit of the Hospital. Although his shift had ended that morning, when he heard about the serious case, Dr. Thanh did not hesitate to return to the hospital to coordinate with other doctors in treating and saving the patient's life.
