On March 20, 1985, Nghe Tinh Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital was officially established. In 1991, the hospital was renamed Nghe An Pediatrics Hospital. In 2012, Nghe An Pediatrics Hospital was renamed Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital based on the merger of the Obstetrics Department of Nghe An General Friendship Hospital, the Bed Department of the Provincial Reproductive Health Care Center and Nghe An Pediatrics Hospital.
In 2014, Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital was officially recognized as a Grade 1 provincial hospital... becoming a trusted address for millions of mothers and children in and outside the province.
After 40 years of construction and development, Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital has made remarkable progress. From a scale of 150 beds when it was first established, the hospital now has a scale of 1,370 beds and 42 departments, rooms and centers. Currently, the hospital has more than 1,300 staff, including 401 doctors (1 associate professor, 6 medical doctors, 22 doctors with 2nd degree; 58 doctors with 1st degree, 64 masters of medicine), 651 nurses, midwives and technicians.
The quality of medical examination and treatment at Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital has been increasingly improved, going into depth and achieving many outstanding achievements. The hospital has pioneered the deployment and successful application of many specialized techniques in Obstetrics and Pediatrics such as: neonatal resuscitation, open heart surgery, cardiovascular intervention, in vitro fertilization... Thanks to that, millions of babies have been born safely, hundreds of thousands of complicated pediatric cases have been saved.
At this time, Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital is focusing on achieving the goal of becoming the final hospital specializing in Obstetrics and Pediatrics in the North Central region. To achieve this goal, the Hospital has been focusing on investing in developing high-quality human resources; modernizing facilities and medical equipment, applying high technology in diagnosis and treatment; promoting scientific research and international cooperation; improving service quality and patient satisfaction, building a friendly, professional hospital environment, focusing on patients; developing specialized and cutting-edge techniques.
At the 40th anniversary celebration, Comrade Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee awarded the Provincial People's Committee's Emulation Flag to Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital; awarded Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to 3 groups and 10 individuals of Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital for their outstanding achievements in their work.
Within the framework of the celebration, Nghe An Department of Health and Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital organized the 2nd Nghe An Expanded Obstetrics and Pediatrics Scientific Conference in 2025 with the theme "Connecting knowledge - Enhancing medical ethics - Firmly stepping into the future". The conference was attended by nearly 1,000 leading experts in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics from across the country. At the conference, delegates will listen to 63 scientific research presentations by professors, doctors and leading scientists.
Speaking at the congratulatory speech of Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital and welcoming scientists to the 2nd Nghe An Expanded Obstetrics and Pediatrics Scientific Conference in 2025, comrade Le Thi Hoai Chung - Director of Nghe An Department of Health stated: The conference is a special forum for scientists and medical experts inside and outside the province to meet, share, exchange and update the latest medical advances - from global trends to practical applications at the facility. The conference will open up many new approaches, contributing to improving the quality of diagnosis, treatment and comprehensive care for mothers and children.
