Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Tran Luu Quang works with Petrovietnam Group

Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang and his delegation worked with the Vietnam National Energy and Industry Group to survey the Lot B - O Mon gas - electricity project.

On the morning of November 8, comrade Tran Luu Quang, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee led a delegation of the City Party Committee to work with the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group ( Petrovietnam ).

Before the working session, the delegation visited the VSP Operation Center and attended the launching ceremony of the central technology platform (CPP) base of the Block B gas field development project, at the PTSC Technical Logistics Service Center (Petrovietnam).

Here, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang performed the ceremony of placing a plaque to welcome the 14th National Congress of the Party.

Also attending the survey and ceremony were comrades: Le Quoc Phong, member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council; Dang Minh Thong, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Van Thi Bach Tuyet, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Nguyen Van Tho, member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; Nguyen Loc Ha, member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

The Block B – O Mon gas – power project chain is a national key project with a total investment of nearly 12 billion USD.

Once operational, the system will provide approximately 5.06 billion m³ of gas per year, creating a clean and stable source of fuel for power plants in the Southwest region, contributing significantly to the budget, promoting industrialization in the Mekong Delta region and ensuring national energy security.

The Block B – O Mon project has comprehensive strategic significance in Vietnam's economic development, energy security and green transformation.

Upon completion, the project will significantly replace FO oil power with natural gas power, reduce CO₂ emissions, towards the Net Zero 2050 target, and at the same time create momentum for infrastructure, industrial and employment development for the Southwest region.

The project chain is also a testament to Petrovietnam's ability to master the energy value chain, from exploration, exploitation, manufacturing - transportation to power generation, affirming the Group's core role in implementing Resolution 55-NQ/TW and Power Plan VIII.

The installation of a plaque welcoming the 14th National Party Congress on the base of the CPP platform in Block B is a worthy recognition of the outstanding efforts of Petrovietnam and oil and gas industry workers.

This is also a strong source of encouragement for the entire team to continue to exceed the schedule, bringing the first gas stream (First Gas) from Block B by the end of 2027, contributing to realizing the goal of "Pioneering - Excellence - Sustainability - Global" that Petrovietnam is aiming for.
