On the evening of November 21st, at Ho Chi Minh City Television Station, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union and Tuoi Tre Newspaper jointly organized the "Supporting Students to School" scholarship awarding ceremony. Comrade Nguyen Van Nen, Member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, attended the event.

The organizing committee awarded 138 scholarships, worth over 2 billion VND, to disadvantaged new students from 7 provinces and cities in the Southeast region; and also summarized the "Supporting Students to School" scholarship program for 2023.
The program also awarded scholarships to 106 new students from other provinces and cities such as Nghe An, Quang Tri, Quang Nam , Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Nha Trang, etc., who are studying in Ho Chi Minh City but did not have the opportunity to participate in the program in their hometowns.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Duong Anh Duc praised the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, Tuoi Tre Newspaper, and philanthropists for their care and support for the younger generation, helping new students, the future of the country, to attend school. Mr. Duong Anh Duc stated that sustainable poverty reduction is a crucial political task that the entire political system and government are determined to implement. In addition to focusing on people's basic needs, the Ho Chi Minh City government also has many policies aimed at promoting social participation in education and talent development.

On this occasion, Comrade Duong Anh Duc also suggested that the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union continue to listen to, share with, and help disadvantaged students, focusing on coordinating with other units to secure funding for students to borrow for their studies and startups, ensuring that no young person is forced to abandon their education due to poverty.
Mr. Le The Chu, Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi Tre Newspaper - the organizing unit of the program, said that since its inception in 1988, after 35 years of operation under various names such as "Supporting Students to School," "Sowing Seeds of Knowledge," "Helping Students Overcome Difficulties," "Bright Spots in the Medical Field," etc., the program has carried out 578 activities with a total value of over 407 billion VND, providing assistance to more than 71,305 students.

The "Supporting Students to School" scholarship program in 2023, organized by Tuoi Tre Newspaper, will allocate 19 billion VND (15 million VND per scholarship and 20 special scholarships of 50 million VND/4 years) to award more than 1,200 disadvantaged new university students nationwide.
