Dien Bien-Phongsaly Border Guards strengthen cooperation in performing tasks on the border

NDO - On May 26, at Pa Thom village, Pa Thom commune, Dien Bien district (Dien Bien province), Border Guard Stations, including Tay Trang, Thanh Luong and Pa Thom International Border Gate (under the Dien Bien Provincial Border Guard) and Border Guard Company 119 (under the Military Command of Phongsaly province, Lao People's Democratic Republic) held a twinning ceremony.

In the spirit of solidarity, support and cooperation, the two sides agreed to sign a twinning charter including the following contents: Regularly exchanging information, situation on management and protection of border lines, border markers, situation in border areas, people's situation and issues of mutual concern; information related to illegal border crossings, illegal entry and exit, free migration and other criminal activities across the border.

The two sides also agreed to increase exchanges and professional exchanges on border work, and cooperate in the fight against all types of crimes, such as: activities that take advantage of ethnicity and religion to divide the great national unity bloc of Vietnam and Laos, activities of illegal trading, transportation, and storage of drugs, weapons, explosives, and support tools, etc.

During the implementation of the mission, the two sides always support and create favorable conditions, help each other spiritually and materially; increase exchanges and visits on the occasion of traditional holidays, New Year, important anniversaries of the two nations, the founding days of the two sides' forces and regularly organize cultural, artistic and sports exchange activities to continuously enhance mutual understanding and trust.

Previously, although the agreement had not been signed, the border protection forces of both sides were always united and actively coordinated in accordance with the Agreement on Border and Border Gate signed by the two Governments; effectively coordinated to handle arising issues in the spirit of respecting independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. Thereby contributing to strengthening the solidarity and friendship, and developing the economy, culture and society of the people in the border areas on both sides.
