An Giang Provincial Border Guards stand firm on the front line of the Fatherland

Today, July 25, the Party Committee of the Border Guard Command of An Giang province held the 1st Congress of Delegates, term 2025 - 2030. The event marked a new step of development, continuing the glorious tradition of the provincial Border Guard force: Solidarity - intelligence - courage - steadfast will at the forefront, always absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the People.

Stick to the border, sea, and islands

Colonel Nguyen Van Hiep - Party Secretary, Political Commissar of the Provincial Border Guard Command affirmed: "With the motto of solidarity - democracy - intelligence - development, the congress demonstrates the high political determination of the entire Party Committee, promotes the combined strength, and excellently completes tasks in the new period".

The Congress will evaluate the implementation results of the resolution of the Provincial Border Guard Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term, determine the directions, goals, tasks and leadership solutions for the 2025-2030 term; discuss and contribute to the draft documents of the 14th National Party Congress; Documents of the 16th Border Guard Party Congress; Documents of the 13th Provincial Military Party Congress.

According to Colonel Pham Van Thang - Deputy Commander of the Provincial Military Command, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Commander of the Provincial Border Guard Command, in the 2020 - 2025 term, despite facing many challenges, the Provincial Border Guard has proactively and steadfastly stuck to the border, sea, and islands, maintaining political security, order, and social safety in the border area. The unit strictly implemented resolutions and directives from superiors on military, defense, and border tasks. Proactively advised and proposed to the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, the Party Committee, and the Border Guard Command policies and countermeasures to promptly and effectively handle situations and incidents to avoid being passive and surprised.

During the term, the Provincial Border Guard deployed 299 professional plans, mobilized more than 700 reconnaissance officers to participate in sudden and specialized missions; arrested and handled 347 cases, with 859 subjects illegally entering and exiting the country. The force established 33 special projects, an increase of 18 special projects, including 15 drug projects, 10 smuggling and trade fraud projects, 4 human trafficking projects, 3 illegal entry and exit projects and 1 military weapons project. These projects demonstrate the professional mettle and contributions of soldiers at the Fatherland's border.

The provincial Border Guard also actively advised on resolving unfinished border demarcations, coordinated to prevent foreign fishing vessels from violating the sea, protected fishermen, and deployed solutions to prevent IUU fishing. The unit strictly maintained combat readiness, organized drills, and participated in defense zone drills with good results.

Building a strong Party organization

Politically strong, professionally good, and close to the people are the consistent images of An Giang border guards. “The beautiful image of soldiers is enhanced thanks to the Party building work that has been focused on comprehensively in politics, ideology, ethics, and organization. Many solutions to innovate Party activities, improve the quality of self-criticism and criticism, and thematic activities of “self-reflection and self-correction” have been seriously and effectively implemented,” said Colonel Nguyen Van Hiep.

The provincial Border Guard has promoted the synchronous implementation of breakthroughs: Improving the effectiveness of early and remote situation monitoring; building discipline, training discipline, tightening discipline; promoting the exemplary role of cadres at all levels. Focusing on effectively implementing propaganda and mobilizing people to comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws. Continuing to effectively implement Directive No. 01/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister on organizing a mass movement to participate in protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security in the new situation in conjunction with the activities of the National Border Guard Day; participating in building and consolidating the grassroots political system, effectively promoting programs and models to help people develop the economy, culture, society... contributing to building a solid national border defense.

In particular, in border diplomacy, the unit maintains friendly relations with the Cambodian border protection force; regularly organizes bilateral talks, patrols, information exchanges, and coordinates to effectively resolve incidents related to people, ships, boats, and security in border areas. Humanitarian activities, medical examinations, gift giving, and support for the people and forces of neighboring countries have contributed to building a peaceful, stable, cooperative, and developing border. The provincial Border Guard also pioneers in applying technology to control entry and exit, promoting administrative procedure reform to ensure transparency and compliance with the law, creating favorable conditions for trade development, meeting the requirements of socio-economic development and international integration of the country.
