The announcement came after US President Donald Trump declared that Riyadh did not demand the establishment of a Palestinian state at a joint press conference on February 4 with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is on a visit to the US.
Also at the press conference, Mr. Trump said that Washington will take over the Gaza Strip and develop the area economically after Palestinians are resettled elsewhere.
However, according to a statement from the Saudi Foreign Ministry, the country affirmed its steadfast and unchanging stance in supporting the establishment of a Palestinian state on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also stressed that Saudi Arabia will not establish relations with Israel unless this core condition is met.
Rejecting any US efforts to force Palestinians to leave the Gaza Strip, Riyadh stressed that its stance on the Palestinian issue is non-negotiable and "does not allow any other interpretation under any circumstances".
During a press conference with the US leader, Prime Minister Netanyahu said that Israel will work to reach an agreement with Saudi Arabia and believes it will be successful.
Before the conflict between Israel and Hamas erupted in the Palestinian Gaza Strip in October 2023, the US led months of negotiations to push Saudi Arabia to normalize relations and recognize Israel.
However, Riyadh has put the issue on hold due to the wave of anger in the Arab world over Israel's military campaigns.
