Over the past two days, many farmers in the Bau Tron specialized farming area (Phu Phuoc village, Dai An commune) have not yet recovered from the shock of the landslide on the riverbank here.

Sitting in a daze, looking at the rushing water and the terrifying landslide scene, sweeping away all the productive land and 2 sao of black sesame that had bloomed, half a person's height, Mr. Vo Tien (68 years old, Phu Nghia village, Dai An) lamented: "Living in the flood-prone area, having suffered many flash floods, sometimes losing all the crops, but I could not imagine a flood happening in the middle of the hot summer. I also could not imagine that in just one night, 2 sao of sesame and 2 sao of soil fell into the river".

Next to that, old farmer Huynh Ba Binh (Phu Phuoc village) shook his head in dismay as he stood looking at the eroded banks of the Quang Hue River, forming a vertical wall. After a while, the land continued to collapse and fall into the river with a loud rumble. Every time a motorboat or canoe passed through this section of the river, the waves continued to cause landslides.

Mr. Huynh Ba Binh shared: "With this landslide, when the rainy season comes, not only the land and crops will be washed away by the river, but also the tail of Phuoc Yen village and the Quang Hue bridge pier will be difficult to maintain. I hope the government will soon have an emergency embankment plan to preserve the land, preserve the village, preserve the bridge pier, and protect the Quang Hue bridge"...

For the farmers here, the damage and loss of productive land and crops is obvious, but for them, the fear of a greater loss is evident. The landslide along the river has eaten into the Bau Tron crop area about 15m, the landslide stretches along the bank of the Quang Hue River towards the end of Phuoc Yen village about 1km, sweeping away many productive land areas and crops including watermelon, sesame, corn...

"For a long time, people in this area have planted bamboo to preserve the soil. The big floods did not have much impact. There has never been a landslide like this because the flood water came too quickly, too terribly, tearing everything apart. Even though the rain has stopped, the landslides are still happening, the riverbank is heavily eroded" - Mr. Phan Ba (Quang Dai village, Dai Cuong), a crop grower here, shared.

Mr. Ba planted 5 sao of melons, preparing to harvest, the flood washed away 2 sao of land and 2 sao of melons ready to be picked and sold, he lost nearly 20 million VND. "The landslide happened very quickly and was quite dangerous. Farmers were already in a difficult situation when they had a good harvest but low prices, then they encountered natural disasters and floods" - Mr. Ba sadly said.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Long - Vice Chairman of Dai An Commune People's Committee proposed that regarding the landslide situation at the foot of Quang Hue bridge, the commune has surveyed, the length of the landslide is 500m, the total lost land area is 5,000m2 , causing damage to crops. There is a risk of continued landslides affecting the foot of Quang Hue bridge. The commune has reported this issue to the authorities, hoping that they will soon have a solution.
