The Vietnam Road Administration has just sent a document to road management areas about urgently increasing the supply of steel cages from the Southern region to the Central region to serve the work of overcoming the consequences of natural disasters.

Specifically, the Department of Roads assigned Road Management Area IV to urgently carry out warehouse procedures, organize transportation and hand over to Road Management Area II and Road Management Area III a total of 40,000 steel baskets of various types (30,000 PVC-coated steel baskets of various sizes (2x1x0.5m); 10,000 galvanized steel baskets of various sizes (2x1x0.5m) and with wire ties).

Road Management Area II and Road Management Area III proactively contact, discuss and coordinate with Road Management Area IV to organize the timely reception of the above steel baskets and ensure effective use of the mobilized steel baskets.

Regarding the delivery and receipt locations, Road Management Area IV agrees with Road Management Area II and Road Management Area III on the delivery and receipt locations, ensuring convenience, and should prioritize warehouse deliveries from suitable locations, close to each other to promptly serve the work of preventing and overcoming natural disasters.

“The order to issue spare materials and warehouse delivery notes, procedures on transportation costs, Road Management Area IV is responsible for implementing and completing procedures according to regulations,” said Mr. Ngo Lam, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Road Administration.

Previously, the Vietnam Road Administration also sent a document to the road management areas and the Department of Construction of Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang , and Quang Ngai to proactively respond to the situation of especially heavy rain and floods on rivers in Hue city and emergency floods on rivers in Da Nang city.

The above units are required to proactively inspect, monitor, and evaluate the status of road infrastructure to have plans to divert traffic to other routes or bypasses that have sufficient conditions for safe operation.

The Department of Roads requests to resolutely suspend the exploitation and use for traffic purposes of bridge works that do not ensure safe exploitation due to natural disasters, high water levels, high flow rates, weak bridges, cases with signs of potential risks of traffic safety and construction safety; underground locations, flooded locations, fast flowing water; road sections with landslides that cut off the road, or partially cut off the road while the remaining part does not ensure traffic safety; landslide locations that completely cover the road surface but have not been repaired; culverts and roadbeds that have been washed away and have not been repaired./.
