Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung meets British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper

Within the framework of General Secretary To Lam's official visit to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (October 28-30, 2025), on October 30, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung met with British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper at the British Foreign Office.

Minister Y. Cooper warmly welcomed the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework between the two countries; highly appreciated the efforts of both sides to realize the upgrading of relations.

She welcomed the signing of an agreement on migration, memorandums of understanding on cooperation in the fields of science and technology, education and training, health care, and important trade contracts between the two sides during General Secretary To Lam's visit.

Minister Y. Cooper believes that the two sides have many opportunities for cooperation in the fields of trade-investment, science -technology, including marine science, innovation, education-training and suggested continuing to coordinate together to achieve practical results.

At the meeting, Minister Le Hoai Trung thanked the two countries' foreign ministries for their active and effective coordination in successfully organizing the visit of General Secretary To Lam, and asked both sides to actively implement the results of the visit.

Minister Le Hoai Trung expressed his delight at the positive developments in bilateral relations in recent times; affirmed that he will work with his British colleagues to bring the Vietnam-UK relationship into a new stage of development, commensurate with the new level, meeting the expectations of the people of the two countries, for peace, stability, cooperation and sustainable development in the region and the world.

Minister Le Hoai Trung proposed that the two countries' foreign ministries continue to coordinate to promote the effective implementation of existing annual cooperation mechanisms in the fields of politics-diplomacy, defense, security and economy; actively cooperate and support each other at international and regional forums; and effectively implement the Vietnam-UK Free Trade Agreement and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

Minister Le Hoai Trung affirmed that Vietnam will continue to be a bridge for the UK to promote cooperation with ASEAN and its member countries.

The two sides agreed to closely coordinate to soon develop an Action Plan to implement the contents of the Joint Statement on upgrading Vietnam-UK relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership, promote the leading role in coordinating relations, and promote cooperation between ministries and branches.

On this occasion, the two Ministers discussed a number of international and regional issues of mutual concern.

Minister Le Hoai Trung invited Minister Y. Cooper to visit Vietnam. Minister Y. Cooper thanked him and happily accepted the invitation.
