Blockbuster that caused a storm in the US holds 3rd place at the Vietnamese box office

Thunderbolts grossed $11.5 million in its May 1 preview, a promising start for Marvel's superhero movie.

The star-studded film, led by Florence Pugh and Sebastian Stan, kicked off the summer box office, winning over both critics and audiences.

As of the morning of May 2, Thunderbolts has an audience score of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the third highest-rated film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, tied with Spider-Man: Far From Home , behind only Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (98%) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (97%). Of course, it's still early days, and the score could change by 1% or 2% as the weekend goes on. And in PostTrak polls, audiences are giving the film 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Estimates suggest the film will open in the $70 million to $73 million range in North America and $160 million to $175 million worldwide, against a $180 million production budget. Word of mouth suggests the numbers could go even higher.

Overseas, the film premiered at the same time as its release in North America, including China. In Vietnam, Thunderbolts premiered on May 1, and is currently ranked 3rd in Vietnamese box office revenue with 10.9 billion VND, after Detective Kien: Headless Case (102.7 billion VND) and Flip Side 8: Vong Tay Nang (118 billion VND).
