AI application in myopia surgery

Intraocular injections - delivering medication to the exact location of the disease in the eye - are indicated for the treatment of a number of diseases such as: diabetic retinopathy, caused by damaged blood vessels in the eye; age-related macular degeneration; blood vessel blockage in the eye causing swelling and blurred vision; severe eye infections and some eye cancers. Intraocular injections are currently an effective solution to treat and prevent permanent vision loss, when eye drops or oral medications cannot reach deep into the eye.

Previously, the charity project "Free your eyes" implemented by the High-tech Eye Center - Dong Do Hospital since 2022 has successfully supported the examination and humanitarian treatment of more than 500 cases of eye diseases, cataracts, refractive errors, helping many severe cases to restore vision.

The center has applied AI and new technologies to treat eye diseases and refractive errors. In particular, SmartSight myopia surgery has been applied with 1,000 surgeries after 5 months of implementation. SmartSight integrates a diagnostic system, ensuring a personalized surgical process, helping doctors perform surgery with high precision, bringing optimal results to patients. This technique shortens eye fixation time and laser time to only 15 seconds for each eye, the incision size is only 2 mm, helping patients feel more comfortable during surgery, reducing the risk of dry eyes after surgery.
