Go Cong City completes removal of temporary and dilapidated houses

Go Cong City leaders handed over the house to Mr. Nguyen Van Xuot's household (near-poor household, residing in Hung Phu quarter, Long Hung ward).

According to the People's Committee of Go Cong City, identifying the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses as one of the key tasks in 2025, the city has focused on mobilizing resources to implement it.

Accordingly, the Standing Committee of Go Cong City Party Committee issued Decision 1653-QD/TU to establish a Steering Committee on social housing development, eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the city; assigning specific tasks to each member of the Steering Committee. 10/10 commune-level units have issued decisions to establish the Steering Committee, decisions to promulgate the operating regulations of the Steering Committee and house construction plans of communes and wards.

On that basis, the People's Committee of Go Cong City issued Plan 111/KH-UBND on implementing the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses by 2025" in the city. 10/10 People's Committees of communes and wards have issued plans to implement and launch the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the area.

After reviewing, the People's Committee of Go Cong City issued a decision approving the list of temporary and dilapidated houses to be eliminated in the area. Up to now, the city has mobilized resources to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households with a total budget of 686 million VND.

Of which, the budget from the 5% savings source on regular expenditure in 2024 is 420 million VND; the budget mobilized by the locality is 36 million VND; the contribution of households is 230 million VND; and 20 working days are mobilized.

Up to now, Go Cong City has built and handed over 9/9 houses, completing the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the area. With the drastic implementation, the program has gradually helped poor and near-poor households in the area to have conditions to build new and repair houses, creating a fulcrum for households to develop the economy and escape poverty.
