On the morning of June 6, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) announced the Vietnam Women's Football Development Strategy for the period 2024-2027. The event is part of the Women's Football Development Project sponsored by UEFA and AFC, with the participation of many domestic and international sports leaders, along with national players such as Huynh Nhu, Pham Hai Yen and head coach Mai Duc Chung.
Since joining the international playground in 1997, Vietnamese women's football has made its mark with 8 SEA Games gold medals, reaching the quarter-finals of ASIAD 2018, participating in Asian Cup 2022 and stepping into the world playground for the first time at FIFA Women's World Cup 2023. However, to develop sustainably and more professionally, building a clear strategy is an inevitable step.
VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan affirmed: "From 2024, we will begin a new journey, with a strong commitment to improve quality, expand the women's football ecosystem and get closer to the international peak."
Launching ceremony of Vietnam women's football development strategy
The strategy for developing Vietnamese women's football sets out specific goals: Comprehensively develop and professionalize women's football from the domestic tournament system, clubs to the national team; Inspire the young generation, arouse passion for women's football; Focus on training female coaches and referees, improve professional quality; Build women's football brand, strengthen communication, attract sponsorship; Expand school football, create opportunities for female students to access football.
The work is specified by a system of accompanying tasks: tournament development, club capacity enhancement, player training, building a professional team environment, implementing sports science , improving governance and management capacity. School football programs will be expanded, aiming at equality in football playing opportunities for girls.
According to Mr. Simon Toselli, FIFA representative, this strategy will open many new doors for Vietnamese women, not only in sports but also in life. AFC representative, Mr. Amir Assokan Abdullah also believes that Vietnamese women's football will be a model for regional development.
At this announcement, Huynh Nhu, a star who played in Portugal, shared and gave evidence for her ambition to go far. She said: "The journey in Portugal is something Nhu will never forget. Despite her small stature, Nhu is not self-conscious but always strives to assert herself, spreading the image of Vietnamese women's football internationally. I have to proactively learn, integrate, even cook, share Vietnamese culture with international friends. All of these help Nhu feel happier and stronger."
This strategy not only opens a new chapter for Vietnamese women's football, but also sends a strong message about aspiration, equality and inner strength that is gradually reaching out to the world.
