"At U22 Vietnam, I admit that you guys play better, almost only playing with 2 touches. That is something very new to me, because in the Czech Republic players often play with 4 touches," Bui Alex answered Tuoi Tre Online 's question on the afternoon of June 5, when asked about the biggest difference between him and his U22 Vietnam teammates.
On June 4, Bui Alex was given the opportunity by the coaching staff to play 30 minutes in an internal match against the Vietnamese team (lost 1-2). Alex played well and aggressively, but was not impressive enough to make a difference.
"My performance in the last internal match was not as good as I expected, because this was only the first match. Actually, it was not too bad, but looking back, I know I could have done better," Bui Alex said.
The player born in 2005 continued: "The domestic players of U22 Vietnam played better than me, because this was not their first match. For someone who came back to play football for the first time like me, it was much more difficult. I had to struggle with the weather and some other things to adapt. For the past week, I have always felt tired because I have not been used to the training schedule. The weather here is very hot and I also have trouble sleeping."
Not only the weather and training hours, but also communication and integration factors are big barriers for young players growing up in the Czech Republic football environment.
"In U22 Vietnam, apart from Viktor Le, I don't talk much with my teammates. Whatever people ask, I answer, nothing more. The relationship between me and the coaches is the same, nothing special. On the field, I only communicate in Vietnamese with my teammates at a basic level, so I mostly confide in Viktor Le in English," said Bui Alex.
He confided: "I thank you and you guys for helping me a lot during the past time. The Vietnamese players are all friendly and funny, making me feel comfortable like at home. It is difficult to compare the environment at U22 Vietnam with the club in the Czech Republic, when Vietnam is a place I have just arrived, and the club is a place where I know my teammates and coaching staff very well."
Bui Alex has been training with U22 Vietnam since May 30, for a week now. After the afternoon training session on June 5, the U22 team will release the camp for the players to return to their home clubs. Alex said this was an unforgettable trip, worthy of the sacrifice for this player (temporarily putting aside his studies and playing in the Czech Republic).
"Anyway, this trip back to my homeland is a special occasion in my life and I will never forget it. The Vietnamese team is full of good players. It is a great honor to play against you. I admire you Hai Long, Quang Hai and Nguyen Filip," Alex said.
He continued: "I have to affirm once again, I still like Vietnam and will not refuse to return to Vietnam to compete in the future. I just want to say that right now I need to develop myself in the Czech Republic."
Unlike U22 Vietnam, the Vietnamese team changed their plans, not going to the field for the last training session on the afternoon of June 5, but staying at the hotel for recovery training. Early in the morning of June 6, coach Kim Sang Sik and his team will move to Noi Bai airport to take the 7:20 am flight to Malaysia.
Acting head coach of U22 Vietnam - Mr. Dinh Hong Vinh and his two students Nguyen Quoc Viet and Pham Ly Duc will also join the national team to prepare for the away match.
